About Tru Care

We support autistic adults and adults with learning disabilities in their own homes, in Saxmundham and across this part of Suffolk. We have kept our focus deliberately narrow, and we think that is worth saying plainly rather than presenting ourselves as able to do everything. Supporting people well in this particular way asks for a specific kind of patience and a specific kind of consistency, and we would rather be genuinely good at it than adequate across a much wider range. We begin with what the person wants their life to look like rather than with a list of tasks. For most of those we support, our purpose is not to do things for them but to make it possible for them to do things themselves, and then to step back. That covers cooking, managing money, getting to a job or a course, using the bus, and dealing with the everyday business that can be genuinely daunting on your own. Predictability is central to this. Being exactly where we said, at the time we said, doing what was agreed, matters more than almost anything else we could offer. Improvising is rarely helpful, and changes get explained well in advance rather than sprung on people. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep asking the people we support what we should be doing differently.
