About Us

We are Hilltop House, and we provide care and support in people's own homes across Bury St Edmunds and the surrounding parts of Suffolk. Our work is with adults with physical disabilities and younger adults.

We have kept our focus narrow on purpose. Supporting somebody with a physical disability well depends on detail: equipment that fits and is used properly, transfers done safely and without indignity, and staff who know exactly how a particular person likes things done. A new face who has not been trained on that detail is not much help, so we train our teams for the individual rather than in general terms, and we keep those teams small and steady.

Support is planned with the person and stays under their control. Many of the people we support direct their own care, and our job is to follow their lead rather than take charge. In practice it might cover personal care, moving and handling, help with medication, cooking and shopping, or support to get out to work, college and the places somebody actually wants to be.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are pleased about that, though the measure that matters more to us is whether the people we support would say their lives are better for our involvement.
