We provide care at home across Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire, and a good deal of our work is with family carers as much as with the people they look after. Those we support include older adults, people living with dementia, autistic adults and people with learning disabilities, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. We also support people living with eating disorders and people affected by alcohol or drug use. Supporting a family carer properly means being reliable, because the whole point of a break is that somebody can stop worrying for a few hours. A carer who arrives late, or who has not been told how things are done, gives a family a different kind of stress rather than a rest. So reliability and handover are where we concentrate. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather set that out here than have somebody come across it and wonder what else went unmentioned. We accept the findings and we are working through them. We think anyone considering us should ask us directly about it, press for specifics, and speak to people we already support before deciding.

CareTech Community Hanley supports adults in and around Stoke on Trent, in their own homes and in their own communities. Much of our work is with younger adults, including people with learning disabilities and autistic people, and with adults who have mental health needs, physical disabilities or sensory loss. We also support older people, and people living with eating disorders or with alcohol and drug misuse. The aim is independence, and we mean that practically rather than as a slogan. Support might be help with personal care and medication, but just as often it is sitting alongside someone while they cook, manage their money, travel to college or work, keep an appointment, or build a routine that holds together when things are hard. We would rather spend an hour helping someone learn to do something than ten minutes doing it for them. How we work is decided with the person. Where someone communicates differently, we take the time to learn how, and we involve families, advocates and other professionals where that is what the person wants. Plans are reviewed as people move forward, because support that never changes is support that holds somebody back. Our staff are trained for the needs they meet and supported by colleagues they can actually reach. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.

Maxlife Care in Stoke on Trent is a nursing home providing nursing care for older people and younger adults. We support people living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people managing a mental health condition, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We also provide care to people in their own homes. Nurses are on duty at all hours, so medication, skin care, nutrition, pain and mobility are managed on site and a change in somebody's condition is noticed by people who know how they normally are. A good deal that would otherwise end in a hospital admission is handled in the person's own room. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet been given an overall rating. We would rather tell you that here than have a family come across it later, and we would encourage anyone considering us to visit, meet the manager and ask whatever they want. We also try to keep the clinical side in proportion. Being well looked after and having a day worth getting up for are two separate achievements. Please come and look round if you are considering care locally.

Care Homes Stoke provides care and support in people's own homes in Stoke on Trent. Our purpose is to make home a place where somebody can be properly cared for, whatever their circumstances, so that moving elsewhere is a choice rather than an inevitability. The range of people we support is broad. Older adults who need help with personal care, medication, meals and staying safe at home. People living with dementia, where familiarity and patience are worth more than anything else. Adults with a learning disability or autism, where the point is to build confidence at the person's own pace. People living with mental health conditions, where a steady relationship and early attention to changes matter most. People with physical disabilities, and people with a visual or hearing impairment, where we adapt how we assist and how we communicate. We also support people living with eating disorders and people affected by alcohol or drug misuse, without judgement and at the pace they set, and younger adults whose weeks revolve around work, study and family. We keep the team around each person small and consistent wherever we can, because that is what turns a visit into a relationship. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch and ask us whatever you need to know.

FTG Care and Consultancy supports people across Stoke on Trent in their own homes. We plan each person's support around the way they already live rather than around a standard package, and we keep the same carers going to the same people wherever we can. We support older people who need help with the everyday tasks that have become harder, and people living with dementia, where a familiar face and an unhurried pace matter more than anything written down. We work with adults who have a learning disability and with autistic adults, often with an emphasis on building confidence rather than taking tasks away from people. We also support adults managing mental health conditions, people living with a physical disability and people with sight or hearing loss, as well as younger adults, whose priorities are usually about getting on with ordinary life. Continuity is what makes home care work. A carer who knows somebody well notices the untouched meal or the unsteady walk that turns out to be the first sign of a problem, and that is how trouble gets headed off early. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, and we would rather state that plainly. Until then, judge us on whether visits happen as agreed, whether we ring when plans have to change and whether we give you straight answers.

- Home Care
Agee Care provides home care to adults in Stoke on Trent and the surrounding area. We support older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, and people who have sight or hearing loss. Most people contact us for a straightforward reason. They intend to stay in their own home, and a handful of practical difficulties are getting in the way. So those are what we take on: help with washing and dressing, medicines taken as they should be, meals cooked and actually eaten, the housework and the shopping kept under control, and a reliable way of getting out to appointments and to see people. We arrange visits around the person's day rather than around ours, and we would rather agree a pattern we can genuinely keep than an ambitious one that falls apart in the first difficult week. We keep the group of care workers around each person small, because meeting an unfamiliar face at the door unsettles anybody and particularly somebody living with dementia. Where somebody has sight or hearing loss, we learn how they prefer to be approached and spoken with. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Timekeeping, continuity and well trained staff are what keep it that way, so those are what we watch.

At SureCare Stoke on Trent, we provide home care to people across the Stoke on Trent area, supporting individuals to live comfortably and independently in their own homes. We believe that familiar surroundings matter enormously to a person's wellbeing, and our role is to make staying at home a genuinely workable and positive option for the people we support and their families. We work with a wide range of people, including older adults, younger adults, and those living with dementia or a physical disability. We also support people with visual or hearing impairments, and we take care to understand how each of these needs shapes the way we approach our work. No two people are the same, and we make a point of getting to know each person as an individual before agreeing how we can best help them. Care visits can cover a broad range of support, from help with personal care and medication prompts through to companionship and assistance around the home. We are flexible in how we work, and we are always willing to have an open conversation about what someone actually needs rather than offering a fixed package that may not quite fit. We are proud to be part of the local Stoke on Trent community. Many of the people we support have lived in this area for most of their lives, and it matters to us that the care they receive feels local, personal and consistent. We aim to match people with carers who are right for them, and we work hard to maintain that continuity wherever we can. If you are thinking about care for yourself or someone you love, we would genuinely welcome a conversation. We are here to listen, answer questions honestly, and help you work out what the right next step might look like.

AR1 Homecare provides care and support at home in Stoke on Trent and the surrounding area. We work with older people, adults living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities, people with visual or hearing impairment, younger adults and people affected by alcohol or drug misuse. Most people would rather stay in their own home, among their own things and their own neighbours, and with the right support a great many can. Our job is to make that practical. Support might be a single morning call to help somebody wash, dress and start the day safely, or several visits covering personal care, medication, meals, mobility, shopping and a check before bed. Consistency is what we work hardest at. Care at home falls apart when the face at the door keeps changing, so we build small teams around each person and protect them. For people living with dementia that familiarity matters more than anything else we could offer. We also support people whom some providers find harder to place, including people with mental health needs and people recovering from alcohol or drug misuse. Our approach there is not complicated. We turn up when we said we would, we do not lecture, and we keep going. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are considering care at home in this area, please get in touch and we will be straightforward about what we can offer.

Resolution Care provides home care to people living in Stoke on Trent. Home care is the whole of what we do, and we think there is an advantage in that focus. We are not fitting visits around a care home rota or a hospital contract. Our entire attention is on the people we visit and whether the support we provide actually makes their day work. Every package we arrange starts with a proper conversation. What do you want help with, what do you want to keep doing yourself, what time does the day really need to start, who should we contact if something changes. Those answers become the plan, and the plan changes when the person's needs change rather than when a review falls due. We keep the same small team going to the same person wherever we can, because reliability is the foundation of home care and a rotating cast of strangers undermines everything else. Our care workers are trained properly for the support they provide, and a senior member of staff is always contactable when a visit turns up something unexpected. We work alongside general practitioners and community nurses rather than separately from them. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, and we welcome direct questions from anyone weighing us up.

We work with individuals across a wide range of needs, including older people, those living with dementia, people with learning disabilities or autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, visual or hearing impairments, younger adults, and those managing alcohol or drug misuse. Our aim is simple: to support people to live as independently and comfortably as possible in their own homes. We understand that inviting someone into your home is a significant decision, and we do not take that trust lightly. Every person we support is treated as an individual, and we take time to understand what matters to them, what their routines look like, and how they want to receive support. At Home First Stoke, we provide home care to people living in Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding areas, supporting individuals to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes for as long as possible. That is what drives everything we do. We work with older adults and younger adults alike, tailoring the care and support we provide to suit each person as an individual. We understand that no two people have the same needs, preferences or routines, so we take the time to get to know the people we support properly before care begins. This means the support we provide fits around someone's life rather than the other way around. Our team supports people with a wide range of needs, from help with everyday tasks such as personal care, meal preparation and medication prompts, through to more complex support for those living with long term conditions. Whatever the level of involvement, we aim to make sure people feel respected, heard and in control of their own lives. We are proud to hold a good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the consistent effort our team puts in every day. It is not something we take for granted, and we are always looking at how we can learn and improve. Being based in Stoke-on-Trent matters to us. We are part of this community, and we care about the people who live here. Families who contact us often tell us they were anxious about arranging care for the first time, and we try to make that process as straightforward and reassuring as possible. If you are thinking about home care for yourself or someone you love, we would be happy to have a conversation about how we might be able to help.

We at Creative Support Staffordshire are proud to provide compassionate home care across Stoke on Trent, supporting people to live well and independently in the place they know best: their own home. As a dedicated domiciliary care provider based in the ST postcode area, we bring personalised support directly to households throughout the local community. Operating from within Stoke on Trent, we are well placed to reach individuals and families across the city and the surrounding areas of Staffordshire. Because our care is delivered in your own home, the environment remains familiar, comforting, and entirely yours. Whether that is a family house, a bungalow, or a flat, our team adapts to your space and your routines rather than asking you to fit around ours. This home based model means residents continue to enjoy their gardens, their favourite chair, their neighbourhood and the memories that surround them, whilst receiving the practical and emotional support they need each day. Our specialisms reflect the diverse needs of the people we support. We provide care for older people, including those living with dementia, offering gentle, patient support that prioritises dignity, reassurance and continuity. For families navigating a dementia diagnosis, this often means peace of mind knowing a familiar face is helping with medication reminders, personal care, meals and companionship in a way that reduces confusion and anxiety. We also support adults with learning disabilities and autism, helping people to build confidence, develop life skills, and pursue the interests and relationships that matter to them. Our support for adults with physical disabilities focuses on enabling independence, whether that involves help with mobility, personal care, or accessing the wider community. We also work alongside younger adults, tailoring our approach to reflect their goals, aspirations and lifestyle rather than defining them by their support needs. In practice, this means every care plan begins with listening. We take time to understand each person's history, preferences and hopes, then build a package of support around them. Families are welcomed as partners in this process, and we aim to keep loved ones informed and involved at every stage. Consistency of support workers, clear communication and respect for choice sit at the heart of how we work. The Care Quality Commission has rated our service as Good overall, with Good ratings across all five key areas: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led. This independent recognition reflects our commitment to delivering care that is not only safe and clinically sound but also warm, thoughtful and shaped around the individual. For families, a consistent Good rating across every domain offers reassurance that the fundamentals are firmly in place, from safeguarding and staff training through to leadership and the quality of everyday interactions. Choosing home care is a significant decision, and we understand that families often begin this journey feeling uncertain or overwhelmed. If you are exploring support for yourself or a loved one in Stoke on Trent, we would be delighted to have a conversation, answer your questions, and help you consider what good care at home could look like. Whatever stage you are at, please reach out. We are here to listen, guide and support you.

Sirri Care provides support at home to adults in Stoke on Trent. We visit older people who need help to carry on living in their own houses, adults living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and younger adults who need support to manage independently. What we do depends entirely on the person. It might be half an hour first thing to help somebody wash, dress and get the day started, or it might be several longer calls covering personal care, medication, cooking, laundry and shopping. For some people the most valuable part of a visit is getting out of the house, or simply having somebody look in. For people living with dementia, staying at home is often the one thing keeping them settled, and that makes continuity essential. The same carers arriving at the same times will do more good than anything else we could offer, so we plan rotas around that rather than around convenience. For people with a physical disability we pay attention to equipment, moving and handling done properly, and above all to allowing enough time, since rushing is where both dignity and safety go. We are guests in the homes we work in, and our staff are expected to behave that way. If you are arranging care at home in Stoke on Trent, please get in touch.

Care Plus Healthcare is a home care agency in Stoke on Trent, supporting adults in their own homes across the city. We work with older people and with younger adults. What happens on a visit depends entirely on the person. For some it is help to wash, dress and get the day started, which is enough to make the rest of the day possible. For others it is several calls covering medication, meals, help to move safely about the house, shopping and getting to appointments. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet been given an overall rating. We prefer to say that openly and would encourage anyone considering us to meet the manager and ask for references. Our view is that care at home should fit around a life that already exists rather than replace it. People have their own routines, their own households and clear opinions about what they want help with and what they would rather keep doing themselves, even when it takes longer. We ask first, agree the detail and write it down in ordinary language so nobody is guessing. If you are arranging support at home in the city, please get in touch and we will come out and discuss it.

We are Betacare Agency, supporting adults in their own homes across Stoke on Trent. The range of people we work with is wide. Older people and people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities or autism, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, younger adults, and people managing an eating disorder. Those are genuinely different kinds of support and we do not pretend one approach covers them all. What they have in common is that the plan is agreed with the person rather than handed over to them. In practice our visits might cover personal care, support with medication, meals, help around the house, getting out, and company. Some people need a brief daily call and others need us several times a day. Where food itself is difficult, we work patiently and without pressure alongside whatever health support somebody already has. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Others need several longer calls a day, and needs shift over time, so we review arrangements honestly rather than letting a plan sit unchanged. Two things take up most of our attention. One is arriving when we said we would, because a visit at an unpredictable hour causes more anxiety than it relieves. The other is continuity, because a carer who already knows somebody is the one who will spot that they are not themselves this week, and that noticing is often what keeps people out of hospital. We are guests in the homes we work in, and our staff are expected to behave that way. Please get in touch if you are arranging care at home locally.

We provide care in people's own homes in Stoke on Trent and the surrounding area. Our purpose is to give people enough support to keep living where they want to live, arriving when we say we will and delivered by carers they know. Most of the people we visit are older. We help with washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping and the household jobs that have become awkward. We support people living with dementia, where continuity of carer and a predictable routine matter more than anything else we could offer. We also work with people who have a physical disability, including safe help with moving and transfers, with people whose sight or hearing is impaired, and with younger adults needing support to live independently. Where sight or hearing is impaired we keep belongings where they are expected, say who we are before we begin and check we have been understood rather than assuming. Care starts with a home visit and an unhurried conversation about what would genuinely help. The plan is written plainly, agreed with the person and reviewed as things change. If you are considering support at home in this area, please get in touch and we will come out and talk it over.

Advantage Care provides care at home for people across Stoke on Trent. We help with as much or as little as somebody needs, from a short call each day to several visits, and we arrange it around the household rather than asking the household to work around us. Most of our work is with older people. We help with washing and dressing, prompting and support with medication, meals and drinks, laundry, shopping and keeping the home comfortable. We also help people get out of the house, to an appointment, to the shops or simply for some air, and we make time for the conversation that goes with it. For people living with dementia we keep the same care workers going into the same homes wherever the rota allows, work with the routine the household already has and avoid moving things about. A familiar voice at the door takes the anxiety out of a visit before it has begun. For people with a physical disability we help with safe moving and with managing day to day as independently as possible. We also support younger adults, fitting visits around work, study and family life. Our care workers are trained for the people they actually visit, and we will be honest if a need is beyond what we can safely provide. Please ring us to talk it through.

Our aim is to give people enough support to keep living where they want to live, arriving when we say we will and delivered by carers they know. We visit older people needing help with washing, dressing, meals and medication, and people living with dementia, where continuity of carer and a settled routine matter more than almost anything else. We support adults who have a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions, people with a physical disability and people whose sight or hearing is impaired, along with younger adults needing support to live independently. That range means briefing carers thoroughly before they start with somebody new. Turning up prepared, knowing how a particular person wants things done, is the difference between support that helps and support that intrudes. Everything starts with a home visit and an honest conversation about what would genuinely help. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Sentimex Care provides care at home for people across Stoke on Trent. Our visits range from a short call to start the day through to several each day and longer periods of support, and the pattern is agreed with the person rather than handed to them. For older people we help with washing and dressing, medication, meals, laundry, shopping and getting out to appointments or to see friends. We also keep an eye on the wider picture, raising a fading appetite or new unsteadiness early rather than leaving a family to find out later. For people living with dementia we keep the same care workers visiting wherever the rota allows, work with the routine the household already has and avoid moving things about in a home somebody knows by heart. We support adults with mental health needs, where reliability and an absence of judgement do most of the good, and people with a physical disability who need help to move safely. Where there is sight or hearing loss we adapt how we communicate and always say who we are and what we are doing. Younger adults are supported around their own commitments. Our care workers are trained for the people they actually visit. Please ring us if you would like to talk about care at home here.

BIG Healthcare works with people across Stoke on Trent in their own homes. Our starting point is what somebody wants their life to look like, and then the practical question of what support would make that possible. We work with adults who have a learning disability and with autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions and younger adults. A great deal of what we do is about independence rather than dependence. Where somebody can take on more for themselves, whether that is cooking, managing money, using transport or getting into work or study, we would rather spend the time helping them get there than doing it for them because it is quicker. Keeping the same workers with the same people matters. Being properly known makes it far easier for somebody to say when things are not going well, and it means changes get noticed early rather than late. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We treat that as the standard to maintain rather than a badge to display. If you are looking into support at home here, we are glad to talk it through honestly.

TC Care Global provides care and support in people's own homes in Stoke on Trent. Staying at home is what most people want, and our job is to make that a dependable option rather than one that quietly stops working. We support older adults with the everyday things that have become difficult: personal care, medication, meals, keeping the house running and getting out safely when they want to. We support people living with dementia, and we concentrate on continuity, because a familiar worker arriving when expected does more good than anything else we could arrange. We work with people living with mental health conditions, where a steady relationship and staff who notice early changes make the real difference, and with people who have physical disabilities, helping with washing, dressing and mobility while leaving the person deciding how it is done. We support people with a visual or hearing impairment, adapting how we announce ourselves, speak and explain, and younger adults, whose care fits around work, study, family and independence. We keep the number of different workers going to each person as small as we can manage. We do not currently hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Please get in touch and ask us anything at all before deciding.

Passion 4 Care provides home care to adults in Stoke on Trent and the surrounding area. We support older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autism, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, and people who have sight or hearing loss. Our work happens in people's own homes and on their terms. A visit might cover help with washing and dressing, medicines, cooking a meal and seeing that it is eaten, laundry and tidying, shopping, or support to get out to appointments, groups, work or simply to see people. How much of that is wanted, and when, is for the person to decide rather than for us to prescribe. We plan the support with the person, in their own words, and we keep the visiting team small so that faces stay familiar. For anybody living with dementia that continuity does a great deal of work. Where somebody communicates in their own way or has sight or hearing loss, we learn how they prefer to be approached rather than expecting them to adapt to us. We ask before we act, and we do not do for people what they would rather do themselves. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We ask the people we support directly whether we are getting things right.

We provide care at home in Stoke on Trent. Those we support include older adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. Care at home succeeds or fails on detail. Which arm goes into the sleeve first. Whether the tea comes before or after the tablets. Whether somebody wants conversation first thing or would rather not be spoken to until they have properly woken up. We write these things down, pass them between carers, and follow them, because getting them wrong quietly undermines everything else we do, however well the tasks were completed. Where somebody communicates differently, whether through a sensory impairment or for another reason, we agree at the start how we will announce ourselves and how we will talk, and we keep to it. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission, and we prefer to say that clearly. Until then we would ask families to judge us on what they can check: how we recruit and train, who we send, whether we arrive when we said we would, and what the people we already visit have to say about us. That is a fairer test than anything we could write here.

We provide care at home in Stoke on Trent, supporting older adults, people living with dementia, and younger adults. Our help covers personal care, medication, meals, shopping and keeping a household running, alongside the company a regular caller brings. We aim it at what has genuinely become difficult and leave alone what the person would rather keep managing themselves, because doing everything for somebody is quicker today and costs them ability over the months. With dementia, continuity does most of the work. The same carer at the same time, doing things in the same order, in a home where nothing has been moved, makes a real difference to how somebody copes. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather put that here than have a family find it elsewhere and wonder why we said nothing about it. We accept what was identified and we are working through it. We are not going to claim in a paragraph that everything is resolved, because that would not be honest. What we would ask is that anybody considering us asks us directly and presses for specifics: what was found, what has changed, what is still in hand. We would also encourage people to speak to those we already visit.

Here at Lords Care Solutions in Stoke on Trent, we provide home care to people across the local area who want to remain living in their own homes with the right support around them. We work with older people, younger adults, and those living with dementia or a physical disability, tailoring the care we provide to suit each person as an individual rather than applying a one size fits all approach. We know that inviting someone into your home to help with personal care or daily routines is a big decision, and we take that responsibility seriously. Our team works hard to build genuine relationships with the people we support and their families, making sure that care feels consistent and familiar rather than a revolving door of different faces. Our work covers a broad range of needs, from support with personal care, medication, and meal preparation through to companionship and more specialist support for those living with dementia or managing the challenges that come with a physical disability. We adapt as peoples needs change, and we encourage open conversations with families and those we support so that care plans stay relevant and reflective of what actually matters to each person. We are aware that our most recent CQC inspection resulted in a "requires improvement" rating, and we want to be straightforward about that. We have taken the findings seriously and have been working through the areas highlighted to make meaningful improvements. We believe in being honest with the people who trust us with their care, and we would rather acknowledge where work is needed than gloss over it. If you are considering home care in Stoke on Trent for yourself or someone you love, we welcome you to get in touch and have a conversation with us about how we might be able to help.

Kindered Hearts supports people in their own homes in Stoke on Trent and across the surrounding area. We work with older people, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental ill health, people with a physical disability, people with visual or hearing impairment and younger adults. That is a broad range, and it reflects how varied the need is locally. Some of the people we visit want one short call a day. Others need several visits covering personal care, medication and meals, or a carer who can stay for longer. For younger adults and for people with a learning disability, our role is often less about personal care and more about making an ordinary week workable. We begin by asking what help is actually wanted rather than working from a form. People are usually clear about what they can still manage and would rather keep doing themselves, and respecting that is as much the job as the tasks we take on. Sending familiar carers is something we plan for deliberately, because a known face and a predictable visit matter more than anything else we could arrange. TBSS Care supports people in their own homes in Stoke on Trent and across the surrounding area. We work with older people, people living with dementia, people living with mental ill health, adults with a physical disability, people with visual or hearing impairment, younger adults and people affected by alcohol or drug misuse. Home care should fit into a life that already exists rather than rearrange it. We begin by asking how the day usually runs, what has become difficult and what somebody can still do perfectly well and would rather keep doing. Plans written that way tend to stick, and they make the support feel like help rather than intrusion. Our visits cover personal care, support with medication, meals, help around the house and getting out to appointments or into town. Where somebody is struggling with alcohol or drugs, we work without moralising. Reliability and being treated as a capable adult do more good than advice nobody asked for. Continuity is where we concentrate our effort. A familiar carer who knows the house, the routine and the person is worth more than any amount of paperwork, and it is what allows us to notice when something changes. We provide care at home for people across Stoke on Trent and the surrounding area. Our carers visit people in their own houses, helping with the parts of the day that have become difficult while leaving the rest well alone. Most of the people we support are older, many are living with dementia, and we also work with younger adults. A visit might involve personal care, help with medication, preparing a meal, light housework or shopping, or simply company and conversation. We start by talking with you and your family about your routine and your preferences, and we try to send the same carers consistently, because a familiar face makes a far bigger difference than most people expect. We should be open with you about where we stand. The Care Quality Commission most recently judged that we require improvement overall. We did not dispute the findings. We have a plan of work in place, we are working through it and we are reporting on progress to the inspectors and to the local authority. We would much rather tell you this plainly than have you find it out afterwards, and we are happy to go through what has changed and what is still outstanding. If you are considering care at home for yourself or a relative, please ring us and ask the awkward questions. Anybody looking at care for someone they love should be asking them, and we will give you straight answers rather than a sales pitch.

GG Home Care is a home care agency in Stoke on Trent, supporting people in their own homes across the city. We work with older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people who have a physical disability. Nearly everybody we meet at a first visit says the same thing: they want to stay in their own home. Making that realistic for as long as it is safe and genuinely the better option is the whole of our purpose. In practice it means help to get up, washed and dressed in a way that leaves a person feeling like themselves, medication managed and recorded properly, meals actually cooked, help to move safely about a house that may no longer suit its occupant, and a reliable person turning up in a week that could otherwise hold very little. For families who have been carrying it alone, it also means a proper break. We are stubborn about sending the same carers to the same people. That continuity is the mechanism rather than the presentation: a carer who knows somebody notices the untouched food, the new bruise, the change in mood or the pile of unopened post. For people living with dementia, familiarity and an unhurried pace work better than explanation. For people with a physical disability we learn how that individual wants to be helped to move. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. Call us and we will be plain about what we can and cannot do.

Tender Glove Healthcare provides support at home for people in Stoke on Trent and the surrounding area. The people we visit include older people, many of them living with dementia, as well as younger adults and people managing mental health conditions. Everything begins with a proper conversation in your own home about your routine, your preferences and where help would make the biggest difference. Visits can cover personal care and medication, cooking, shopping and housework, getting out to appointments, or company for somebody who sees very few people in a week. Some people need one short call a day and others need several, or support overnight, and we are happy to start small and adjust as things change. Keeping the same carers visiting the same people is something we protect. Familiarity does more good than almost anything else we can offer, particularly for somebody living with dementia, and it means changes get noticed early by a carer who knows what normal looks like for that person. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and we are glad to be asked about our training, our staffing and how we handle concerns. Families usually want two things from an agency. Somebody who arrives when they said they would, and somebody who tells them the truth when something has gone wrong. We aim to be both. If you are looking into care at home in this area, please get in touch and we will talk it through honestly.

G and H Care is a home care agency in Stoke on Trent, supporting people in their own homes across the city. We work with older people and younger adults, with people living with dementia, with people who have mental health needs and with people living with a physical disability. Our work is the practical business of keeping a household going so that somebody can stay where they want to be. Getting a person up and washed without leaving them feeling handled. Help with dressing, which sounds trivial until buttons and shoes become impossible. Medication at the right time, in the right order, recorded honestly. A meal properly cooked rather than something opened and abandoned. Shopping, laundry and a tidy kitchen. Help to move about safely indoors. Reliability is what we work hardest at. Being where we said we would be, at roughly the time we said, with somebody the person recognises. People build their day around a visit, and a carer who does not arrive leaves far more than a job undone. For people living with dementia, familiar faces and an unhurried pace do what explanation cannot. For people with mental health needs, what usually helps is structure and a presence that stays reliable through the bad weeks as well as the good ones. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. Ring us and we will give you a straight answer about what we can and cannot offer.

Arranging and funding home care in Stoke-on-Trent
Two decisions usually run in parallel: what help is genuinely needed, and how it will be paid for. Taking the assessment first is worth the wait, because it produces a written account of need that agencies work from and that any funding decision refers back to. It is also the point at which to say plainly how much a family member is already doing, because help that is quietly propping everything up should be recorded rather than assumed to continue.
The care needs assessment
An assessment is free and available to anyone who appears to need care and support, whatever their savings or income. Stoke-on-Trent City Council carries it out and decides what support it will fund, so its adult social care team is where to begin. A practitioner will ask how your relative manages washing, dressing, meals, medication and moving about, and how the nights go, which is often where the difficulty really lies. A financial assessment follows, weighing income and savings against national thresholds to work out what contribution is due.
The cost of care at home
Support at home is charged by the visit or by the hour, with higher rates at weekends and on bank holidays and where two carers are needed, so ask every agency for a written schedule of charges and for the shortest visit it accepts. Where the council agrees to fund care it pays up to the level it considers appropriate for assessed needs, and a direct payment lets a family choose and manage the agency themselves. Ask what notice is required to change a call, whether late cancellations are charged, and how travel time is treated. Settling these details before care starts saves a great deal of correspondence later.
Choosing between home care agencies in Stoke-on-Trent
Ratings, reports and the gaps between them
All eighty one agencies here are registered with the Care Quality Commission, but only some carry a published rating. Thirty are rated Good and one is rated Outstanding, nine are rated Requires Improvement, and forty one have not been rated yet. Where a report exists, read past the grade to the comments on staffing, punctuality and leadership, and note how long ago the inspectors visited. Where there is none, the checking falls to you, so ask how long the agency has operated, how many people it supports, and whether it can arrange for you to speak to a family already using it.
What to ask before you commit
Ask how many different carers would attend across a fortnight, since continuity is what families notice first when it is absent. Find out how sickness and annual leave are covered, whether calls have been missed, and how quickly the office answers at the weekend. Confirm the agency is registered for the help actually required, whether that is support with medication, moving and handling, or dementia care, and ask how often the care plan is reviewed and by whom. Ask how carers are trained and supervised in someone's home, because that is where the quality of a visit is decided.

Can Stoke-on-Trent City Council fund care at home?
Stoke-on-Trent City Council can fund all or part of a package of care at home once a care needs assessment and a financial assessment have been completed. What it pays depends on the level of assessed need and on income and capital, with national thresholds applied to savings. Where support is funded, the council pays up to the amount it considers appropriate for those needs. Some families take a direct payment instead and commission the agency themselves.
How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Stoke-on-Trent?
Contact the adult social care team at Stoke-on-Trent City Council and ask for a care needs assessment, which anyone who appears to need support may request regardless of income. A practitioner will consider what your relative can manage safely at home and what help would make a difference. A financial assessment then establishes whether the council will contribute towards the cost. Ask early, because assessments take time to arrange and the written outcome is useful when briefing an agency.
How far ahead should we start looking for home care?
Start before the situation becomes urgent, because the busiest times of day are the hardest slots for any agency to fill. Early mornings and teatime tend to be the pinch points, so a few weeks of notice improves your chances of getting the hours you want. If a hospital discharge is setting the pace you may have only days, so ask the hospital social work team for help and treat the first package as something that can be adjusted. A review after the first month is always worth arranging.
Which home care agencies in Stoke-on-Trent are listed here?
83 providers registered with the Care Quality Commission to deliver care in Stoke-on-Trent appear on this page. They support people in their own homes with tasks such as washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping and company. You can compare them by rating and open any profile to read the inspection report where one has been published. Coverage differs across the area, so it is worth approaching more than one agency.
What should I ask an agency before care starts?
Ask who the registered manager is, how long they have been in post, and who answers the telephone outside office hours. Find out how the agency covers absence and how families are told when a visit will be late. Ask to see a sample care plan and how often it is reviewed. Where the agency has been inspected, ask what the report said and what has changed since.
What is the difference between a care home and a nursing home?
A care home provides accommodation, meals and personal care from a trained staff team, with community nursing called in when clinical needs arise. A nursing home is registered to have a qualified nurse on duty at all times, which suits someone with continuing medical needs. Care at home is the alternative to both and often delays the point at which a move becomes necessary. Where needs are rising, comparing all three at once usually leads to a better decision than taking them one at a time.
