We are a domiciliary care branch working in Southwark and across London and the South East, and we specialise in supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults in their own homes. That focus is deliberate. Supporting someone well in their own home is a different discipline from running a care setting, and supporting an autistic adult well is different again from general home care, so we would rather do one thing properly than everything adequately. Most of the people we work with are younger adults, and a good many are building independence for the first time. Our role varies enormously from person to person. For some it is help with cooking, budgeting, appointments and travel, so that living alone stays realistic. For others it is support with communication, or having someone present at times of day that are reliably difficult. We learn how each person communicates, what their sensory needs are and what genuinely helps when they are overwhelmed, and we record that clearly so every member of staff supporting them knows it. Consistency matters more here than almost anywhere, so we keep the same small team going to the same person wherever we can. We work alongside families, social workers and health teams, and we are honest when something is not working. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
