About Us
Southwark African Family Support provides care and support to people in their own homes in Southwark. We work with older people and people living with dementia, with adults who have a learning disability and with autistic adults, with people who have mental health needs, physical disabilities or a visual or hearing impairment, and with younger adults. We should be open about our last inspection. The Care Quality Commission rated us requires improvement overall. We have not tried to explain it away. The work since has gone into the things that affect people directly, which are getting the right carer to the right person reliably, recording and administering medication properly, and making sure that when somebody raises a concern it reaches a manager quickly and is answered rather than lost. What we are trying to do has not changed. Much of our work is with families whose language, food and customs are part of who they are, and we treat getting those right as ordinary good care rather than an extra. Support is planned with the person and anyone they want involved, written in plain language and reviewed as needs change.
