About Whitehaven Trust
Whitehaven Trust is a home care agency supporting people in their own homes in Bristol and across South Gloucestershire. We work with older people, adults with a physical disability and younger adults. Nearly everyone who contacts us wants to carry on living where they are, and our job is to make that practical rather than to take over. Depending on what is needed, that could be one call each morning to help someone wash, dress and get the day going, several visits a day covering personal care, meals and medication, or longer periods of support for people whose needs are more constant. Where somebody has a physical disability, we think properly about equipment, moving and handling, and how much help to offer. Being helped more than you want is its own kind of loss, and it creeps in easily, so we keep asking what a person would rather do for themselves. For younger adults in particular the aim is usually to make an ordinary week workable rather than to manage them. Reliability is the thing people judge us on, quite rightly. Turning up when we said we would, at a time that suits the person's day, with a carer they already know. We plan rotas around that rather than treating it as a bonus. We keep families in the picture where the person wants it, and we raise concerns early. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please contact us to talk things through.
