About Alimo Care

We are a home care agency working across Bristol and South Gloucestershire, supporting people in their own homes. Our work spans older adults, people living with dementia, autistic adults and people with learning disabilities, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, and younger adults. Supporting that range well means resisting a single method. What helps an older person stay safely at home has little in common with what helps a young autistic adult manage their own flat, and a service that treats them the same will do neither properly. So we plan individually, we match carers to people rather than to gaps in a rota, and we let the person say how things should be done. A fair amount of our work is practical: washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping, laundry, keeping on top of a home. The rest is harder to put on a care plan. Noticing that somebody is not themselves. Sitting down for the last ten minutes instead of leaving early. Telling the office that something has changed. That part depends entirely on sending carers who are paying attention, which is why we are careful about who we take on. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. We are glad of it, and we would still rather hear about a problem this week than be congratulated in general terms.
