About Us

Courtfield Healthcare provides support in people's own homes across Bristol and South Gloucestershire. We work with older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with a learning disability, autistic people, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss.

Working across that range means we cannot have one way of doing things, and we do not pretend to. What is constant is how we start: a proper conversation, in the person's home, about how they live and what they want help with. Not a checklist of deficits. People are usually very clear about what would make the difference, and it is often not what a standard assessment would predict.

For people living with dementia we keep the same small team going in, because familiarity does more good than any technique. For autistic people and people with a learning disability we take our cue from the person about pace, environment and communication, and we do not treat a preference as a problem to be worked on. For people with sensory loss we adapt how we make contact so that nobody is left guessing who has just walked in.

We are strict about the basics. Turning up when we said, staying the full time, recording what happened, and telling families when something has gone wrong.
