Ask how care workers are recruited, trained and supervised, and who covers a visit when someone is off sick. Ask how visits are recorded and whether families can see those records. Ask what happens when a care worker arrives and gets no answer at the door, and who picks up the telephone out of hours. Clear procedures for missed calls and medication errors tell you more about an agency than any brochure will.
