About MAK West

MAK Lincolnshire West is a home care agency based in Gainsborough, supporting younger adults in their own homes across the western side of Lincolnshire. We work with people living with mental health needs. Support at home for mental health is a different job from personal care, and we treat it as such. It is often about structure rather than tasks: being there in the morning when getting up feels impossible, keeping appointments from slipping, helping somebody rebuild a routine after a spell in hospital, and being a steady presence through the stretch where recovery stalls. Progress is rarely a straight line, and we do not treat a difficult fortnight as a failure or as evidence that somebody is not trying. We work alongside whichever teams are already involved rather than starting over, because the people we support have usually told their story more times than anybody should have to. This is a rural patch and isolation does real damage here, so getting out, keeping connections alive and having somewhere to be are treated as part of the support rather than extras. Our aim throughout is help that does not take over: the people we work with are adults with their own plans, and our job is to make a chosen life workable. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We are happy to talk in detail about how we work before anybody commits to anything.
