Care Plas provides care and support in people's own homes in Boston and across Lincolnshire. We work with older people, people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, younger adults, and people working through difficulties with alcohol or drugs. Working across a largely rural county shapes how we do this. Distances are real and villages are scattered, so a carer running late is half an hour late rather than five minutes. We plan rounds geographically and keep them stable, which has the useful effect that people see the same few faces rather than whoever the rota threw up. Where the work is sensitive we go carefully and without judgement. Recovery from dependence rarely runs in a straight line, and being steady on the difficult weeks is most of what we are for. We work alongside health teams and specialist services rather than duplicating them. The rest of what we do is more everyday: personal care, medication, meals, mobility, household jobs, shopping, appointments and company. Because we are often the only people through the door in a week, noticing is genuinely part of the job. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission.
