About Us
At Caring Hands, we provide home care to people living in Ashby de la Zouch and the surrounding areas of Leicestershire. We support individuals who want to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes, and we work hard to make that possible in a way that feels right for each person we care for.
We work with a wide range of people, including older adults, younger adults, and individuals living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, visual or hearing impairments, and eating disorders. Because the people we support have such varied needs and experiences, we take time at the outset to understand what matters most to each individual and to build care around that, rather than applying a one size fits all approach.
We know that inviting someone into your home, or the home of someone you love, is not a small thing. It takes trust, and we do not take that lightly. Our team works to build consistent, honest relationships with the people we support and their families, so that care feels like a partnership rather than a transaction.
We are registered with the Care Quality Commission, and our most recent inspection resulted in a "requires improvement" rating. We want to be straightforward about that. We have taken the findings seriously and are actively working through the areas identified, making changes to our practice, oversight, and processes. We believe in being open with the people who use our care and their loved ones, and we feel it is important to acknowledge where we need to do better rather than gloss over it.
If you would like to find out more about how we can support you or someone close to you, please do get in touch. We are always happy to have an honest conversation about what we can offer.

More about the care at Caring Hands (Domiciliary Care) Ltd.
What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.
Dementia
Good dementia support at home tends to rest on familiar routines, consistent faces at the door, and carers who can read mood and step back when something is not landing well. Caring Hands is registered to support people living with dementia in their own homes, which can help someone stay in surroundings that already carry meaning for them. Families thinking about this service should ask how the agency responds when a person becomes distressed or resistant during personal care, how risks like leaving the house at night are discussed with relatives, and how visits are adjusted as memory and communication change. It is also worth asking how carers liaise with GPs, district nurses and the local memory service when needs shift.
Learning Disability / Autism
Support for adults with a learning disability or autism works best when it is built around the individual's routines, communication style and sensory preferences rather than a standard template. Caring Hands is registered to provide this kind of home support in Leicestershire and can be commissioned privately or through the council following an assessment. Ask how goals around independence, community access and daily living skills are recorded, and how often plans are reviewed with the person and their circle.
Mental Health
Stability, predictable visits and respectful communication matter enormously for adults living with a mental health condition, particularly during harder periods. Caring Hands is registered to provide home care for this group across the Ashby area. Worth asking how carers are briefed on someone's triggers and early warning signs, whether the agency liaises with community mental health teams, and what the plan is if a person is in crisis between visits or refuses care on a given day.
Physical Disability
Living with a physical disability at home often depends on the right mix of hands on personal care, safe moving and handling, and support that leaves the person in charge of their own day. Caring Hands is registered to provide this care in people's own homes, so any hoists, profiling beds or bathroom adaptations would be those the household already has in place. Ask how carers are matched to equipment already installed, and how the agency works with occupational therapy if needs change.
Visual / Hearing Impairment
Sight and hearing loss shape home care in small but important ways, from announcing arrival clearly, to good lighting during personal care, to writing notes in large print where useful. Caring Hands is registered to support people with visual or hearing impairments in their own homes. Families should ask how carers are briefed on preferred communication, whether staff are comfortable with lip reading or basic signing, and how hearing aids and glasses are checked at each visit.
Younger Adults
Adults under 65 receiving home care often want support that fits around work, study, relationships and hobbies rather than a routine designed for later life. Caring Hands is registered to support younger adults alongside older clients across Leicestershire. Ask how visit times flex around a working week, how carers are matched by interests and communication style, and how goals around independence and community life are written into the plan.
