About Us

Walfinch supports people in their own homes around Welwyn, Bishop's Stortford, Ware and the surrounding parts of Hertfordshire. We visit older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, people living with mental ill health, people with physical disabilities and people whose sight or hearing has changed.

We think care at home should be shaped around the household rather than around our rota, so we start by finding out how the day actually works at the moment and where it falls down. Sometimes the answer is a single call each morning. Sometimes it is several visits a day, or a long visit so that a family carer can get out. Sometimes what is needed most is company and a regular check that somebody is eating properly and taking their medication.

We put a lot of weight on sending the same carers to the same homes. It is what turns care into a relationship rather than a transaction, and it is how our staff spot that something has changed before it becomes a crisis. We keep families informed, particularly those living too far away to drop in, and we say so promptly when we are worried.
