About Us

We are Home Instead Senior Care in St Albans, and we provide care and companionship to people in their own homes across the city and the surrounding area. We work in longer visits rather than brief calls, because good care at home needs enough time in it to do the job properly and still sit down for a cup of tea. Much of what we do is practical help for older people: getting up and dressed, bathing, medication, cooking a proper meal, the shopping and the laundry, and getting out to appointments or into town. Just as much of it is company, which is not a soft extra. Loneliness does real harm, and a care worker who knows the family photographs, walks the dog and remembers what happened last week is doing something genuinely valuable. We also support people living with dementia, where continuity is everything, so we work hard to keep the same familiar care workers visiting the same households. We support people with physical disabilities, taking care over equipment and over how each person prefers to be helped, people living with sight or hearing loss, and some younger adults. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of that and clear that it has to be earned again every week. Please get in touch.
