About Us
Here at Caremark North Herts and Stevenage, we provide home care to people living in Letchworth Garden City and the surrounding areas of Hertfordshire. Our work centres on helping people remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes, with the right level of support to do so safely and confidently.
We work with a wide range of individuals, including older adults, younger adults, and people living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, visual or hearing impairments, and eating disorders. We take time to understand each person properly before any care begins, because the support we put in place needs to reflect who that person is, not simply what their diagnosis or assessment says on paper.
Our team is local, which matters more than people sometimes realise. Our carers know these communities, understand the area, and often build genuine, lasting relationships with the people they visit. That consistency is something we work hard to protect, because familiarity and trust make a real difference to how someone feels about receiving care at home.
We are pleased to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the honest, everyday effort our team puts in. It is not something we take for granted, and we continue to look at how we can improve what we do and how we do it.
If you are thinking about care for yourself or for someone close to you, we are always happy to have a straightforward conversation about what might be needed and whether we could be the right fit. There is no pressure and no obligation. We just want to help people find the right support so they can carry on living life on their own terms, in the place they know best.

More about the care at Caremark (North Herts & Stevenage)
What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.
Older Person Care
A good rating was published after an inspection in May 2019, which is now several years behind. For older people the work covers personal care, medication prompts, meals and the company a regular visit brings. The agency says its carers are local, know these communities and often build lasting relationships with the people they visit. It protects that consistency deliberately, on the grounds that familiarity and trust change how care feels. Ask how many carers would attend one household in a fortnight, how late a call can be arranged in Letchworth, who can be reached in the evening, and what has changed since the inspection.
Dementia
Carers who know these communities and understand the area is how this agency describes its team, and it argues that the resulting consistency matters. For dementia that is exactly the point, since home care depends on visits arriving when expected and a familiar face at the door. The agency also says support has to reflect who a person is rather than what an assessment says on paper. Its good rating is from May 2019, so ask what has changed since. Ask too what dementia training carers receive, how distress at the door is handled, and how the plan is revised as the condition advances.
Learning Disability / Autism
Registration for this agency dates from 9 May 2013, so it has been operating for over a decade. Support for a learning disability or autism rests on person centred planning, patience over independence skills, predictable routines and attention to sensory needs. Ask who holds the relevant training, how Hertfordshire commissions and reviews the hours, and how often the plan is revisited.
Mental Health
Support that reflects who a person is, not simply what a diagnosis or assessment says on paper, is how this agency puts it. For mental health that is the right emphasis, since stability, routine and ordinary dignity usually help most. Ask who on the team has mental health experience, what happens in a crisis outside office hours, and how the agency works with community mental health services.
Visual / Hearing Impairment
Eight categories appear on this registration, visual and hearing impairment among them. Practical help for sight or hearing loss means good lighting, keeping things in the same place, clear speech and carers who announce themselves on arrival. Ask what training carers have had, how written information is provided, and how a hearing aid or other equipment is checked.
Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are among the needs this Hertfordshire agency is registered to support, which few home care services cover. Work of that kind calls for sensitivity around food, mealtimes and language, and close involvement from the clinical team treating the person. Ask who leads that oversight, how mealtime support is agreed and recorded, and how often the plan is reviewed.
Younger Adults
Familiarity and trust make a real difference to how someone feels about care at home, as this agency says, and that holds just as much under 65. The practical question is whether visits can be timed around work or study. Ask how early and how late carers can call near Letchworth, and whether the same small group can follow a changing week.
