About Us

We are Personal Choice Carers At Home, based in Wickford and supporting adults in their own homes across this part of Essex.

We support older people and people living with dementia, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults who need help with daily life. In practice that means personal care, support with medication, meals, shopping and housework, help getting out to appointments, and the company that often matters as much as any task on a care plan.

The name says what we are trying to do. People tell us how they like things done and we do them that way, rather than arriving with a system of our own. We start by asking what somebody actually wants from us and what they would rather keep doing for themselves, and we revise that as things change.

We also try to keep the same small group of workers going to the same person. A familiar face is easier to let into the house, and a worker who knows somebody notices sooner when they are unwell.
