About Us

We are You Before Me Care, a home care agency in Chelmsford, Essex. We support older people and younger adults in their own homes, including people living with dementia and people with a physical disability.

The name is a standard rather than a slogan, and the test of it is whether the arrangement suits the person or suits our rota. We try to make sure it is the former. That starts with asking what an ordinary day looks like and where it has become difficult, and building the visits from those answers instead of offering a standard package and adjusting later.

With dementia, the most important detail is usually who comes through the door. A familiar carer makes a visit work where an unfamiliar one, however skilled, may not, and we arrange rotas around that even though it makes our job harder.

For people with a physical disability, it is time and detail that count: an unhurried transfer, equipment set up properly, and asking the person how they prefer it done.
