We are a home care agency in Chelmsford, providing support to people in their own homes across Essex. We work with older people, with younger adults and with people living with dementia. Our view is that care at home works best when it is built around the person's existing life rather than imposed on top of it. So we begin by asking what somebody finds difficult and what they would like to keep doing for themselves. The answer might be help getting up, washed and dressed in the morning, support with medication, a hand with meals and shopping, or someone to accompany them to appointments. For people living with dementia it is often as much about reassurance and familiarity as about any particular task, and that depends on carers who know the person's history and habits. We try hard to send the same carers to the same homes. It spares people from explaining themselves repeatedly, and it means somebody is likely to notice when a person is unwell, in pain or low in spirits. Our carers are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and have senior staff they can turn to. We do not yet hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. We are happy to discuss that with anyone thinking of using us.
