About Us

Here at Caring Together, we provide home care to people living in St. Ives and the surrounding areas of Cambridgeshire, supporting individuals to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes for as long as they choose.

We work with a wide range of people, including older adults, younger adults, and individuals living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. We take the time to understand each person as an individual, building care around their routines, preferences, and goals rather than fitting them into a one size fits all approach.

Our most recent Care Quality Commission rating is Good, which reflects the effort our team puts in every day to make sure the people we support feel safe, respected, and genuinely listened to. We are proud of that rating, though we know it is not something to rest on. We are always looking at how we can do better and how we can make each visit meaningful rather than just functional.

We believe that receiving care at home should feel as natural and unobtrusive as possible. Our carers are matched thoughtfully with the people they support, and we work hard to maintain consistency so that familiar faces become a reliable part of someone's day. For family members and loved ones, we hope that knowing someone is there makes a real difference to their peace of mind.

If you are considering home care for yourself or someone close to you, we would encourage you to get in touch for a conversation. There is no obligation, and we are happy to answer questions, talk through options, and take things at whatever pace feels right. We are based in St. Ives and know this community well, and we would welcome the chance to support you.

More about the care at Caring Together

What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.

Older Person Care

An inspection in December 2018 rated Caring Together good overall. The agency is registered for older person care around St Ives, which day to day means help with washing and dressing, meals, support with medication and company. It says it takes time to understand each person as an individual, building care around their routines, preferences and goals rather than a one size fits all approach. A rating from 2018 describes a period rather than a permanent state, so ask what has changed since. Ask how long the shortest call lasts, who answers out of hours, and how a missed visit is picked up.

Dementia

Caring Together Charity has held this registration since 7 January 2011. The agency is registered for dementia care, and at home that usually means visits at consistent times from faces the person knows, the routine they already have kept rather than replaced, and attention to the quiet signs that something has shifted. Consistency is something the agency says it works hard at, which matters more here than almost anywhere. Ask what a carer does when someone becomes distressed during a call, and what happens if a person is found to have gone out alone. Ask what training carers have had and at what point visits stop being enough.

Learning Disability / Autism

Building care around routines, preferences and goals rather than a standard package is the stated method in Cambridgeshire. Caring Together is registered for learning disability and autism, where support at home usually means help built around a person's own goals, steady routines and whatever sensory needs shape the day. Packages like this are often commissioned and reviewed by the county council, so ask who attends those reviews.

Physical Disability

Care that feels natural and unobtrusive is what this St Ives agency says it aims for. Caring Together is registered for physical disability, which at home turns on accessibility, equipment, personal care and keeping as much as possible within the person's own control. Ask who assesses moving and handling and who supplies and maintains any equipment needed.

Visual / Hearing Impairment

Visual and hearing impairments sit on the registration alongside dementia, learning disability and physical disability. In someone's own home that generally comes down to practical habits: lighting that helps rather than dazzles, clear labelling, facing a person when you speak, and checking that aids and glasses are working. Ask what training carers have had in sight and hearing loss, and how they confirm someone has understood.

Younger Adults

Carers matched thoughtfully to the people they support is how the agency describes its approach to pairing. Caring Together is registered for younger adults, and at that age the question is whether visits fit around work, study and other commitments rather than setting the shape of the week. Ask what hours the agency can cover in evenings and at weekends.
