We at Ashfield House Raunds are proud to offer a warm and welcoming residential care home in the Wellingborough area, providing dedicated older person care to those who need it most. Nestled within the North Northamptonshire community, our home is a place where residents can feel truly at ease, supported by a team that genuinely understands the importance of dignity, comfort and connection. Set within the familiar and friendly surroundings of the NN postcode area, our home benefits from its position within the East Midlands, offering easy access for family and friends who wish to visit regularly. The local setting provides a peaceful backdrop for daily life, whilst remaining well connected to the wider community. We believe that a care home should feel like a real home, and every corner of Ashfield House is arranged with that comforting principle in mind. Our care is thoughtfully tailored to meet a range of needs. Alongside residential care for older people, we offer specialist dementia care, delivered with patience, empathy and a deep understanding of how memory conditions affect both the individual and those who love them. For residents living with mental health needs, we provide compassionate, person centred support that focuses on wellbeing, routine and reassurance. We also welcome guests for respite care, offering families peace of mind during periods when a short stay is needed, whether following a hospital discharge, during a family holiday, or simply to provide a carer with a well earned break. In practice, this means our residents benefit from a daily rhythm that balances gentle activity, meaningful companionship and the professional attention of a caring team. Families can feel confident that their loved one is safe, valued and encouraged to live as fully and independently as possible. We take time to learn each person's story, preferences and routines, because we believe that truly personalised care begins with truly knowing the individual. We are pleased to hold an overall Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, following our most recent inspection in October 2019. This positive result was reflected across every domain assessed, with Good ratings awarded for being safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led. For families, this consistent recognition offers reassurance that the standards of care, leadership and day to day life at our home have been independently reviewed and found to be dependable across the board. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that choice. At Ashfield House Raunds, we are here to listen, to guide and to welcome you with the warmth and honesty that has shaped our approach for years. If you are exploring residential, dementia, mental health or respite care in the Wellingborough and wider North Northamptonshire area, we would be delighted to hear from you and to answer any questions you may have about life at our home.

    • Care Home

Parvale House is a residential care home in Kettering, North Northamptonshire, supporting adults who have a learning disability, autistic adults and people with mental health needs, including younger adults. We also offer respite stays for people who need support for a shorter period. The people who live here call it home, and our job is to help each of them live the life they choose within it, with as much independence as they want and as much support as they need. We help with personal care where it is wanted, with cooking, laundry and shopping, with medication and appointments, and with managing money and correspondence. We also support people to get out locally, to keep up the activities they enjoy and to stay close to family and friends. Communication and routine sit at the centre of the work. Learning how a person asks for help, how they show that they are unhappy and what settles them when a day goes badly matters more than any written policy, so we take time over it and write plans in a form the person can actually use. Mental health support is provided alongside colleagues in local health teams where that is helpful, and we would rather act on a small change than wait for a crisis. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

    • Care Home

Heatherington House is a residential care home in Kettering, North Northamptonshire, supporting adults with a learning disability or autism and people managing mental health conditions, including younger adults. We also offer respite stays, which can give a family carer a genuine break. This is somebody's home before it is anything else, and we work hard to run it that way. People have their own rooms, their own routines and a real say in how their days go. Support is about making ordinary things possible rather than doing them for people. Cooking a meal you actually want. Doing your own shopping. Managing money and appointments. Getting to a club, a course or a job. Keeping in touch with family and friends. We are careful about that distinction, because independence is quietly eroded by help that arrives too quickly. Communication is something we take seriously. Not everybody here uses many words, and understanding somebody properly takes time, attention and a willingness to be corrected rather than assumptions. Plans are written with the person, reviewed honestly and changed when they stop fitting. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. That judgement came largely from what the people living here and their families told the inspectors, which is why it matters to us. We do not treat it as finished business, because standards slip quietly wherever nobody keeps looking. If you are considering a place or a respite stay with us, please come and visit and meet the people who live here.

    • Care Home

We are Hermitage House Care Home in Kettering, North Northamptonshire. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. Ours is residential rather than nursing care. We support people with the everyday things that have become difficult, including washing and dressing, meals, medication and moving about safely, while working with district nurses and GPs for anything beyond our registration. We are clear with families about where that boundary sits, because a placement that turns out to be the wrong fit does nobody any good. Dementia care occupies much of our day. What helps most is knowing the person rather than the diagnosis. Their history, their working life, the routines they have kept for decades and the things they would never have tolerated. That knowledge tells us how to approach a difficult morning better than any general technique does, and families are usually the ones who can give it to us. Respite stays are a real part of what we do. Guests are assessed and welcomed as fully as anyone staying permanently, whether they are recovering after illness or giving a family carer a break. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and do not currently hold an overall rating.

    • Care Home

Thackley Green is a residential care home in Corby in North Northamptonshire. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. Respite stays are available. Coming to live in a care home is a significant thing to do, and the first weeks matter more than any account of the building. We spend them learning about the person rather than settling them into our routine. What they did for a living, what they cannot be doing with, what time they have always had their breakfast, whether they would rather be in company or left in peace with the radio on. Dementia care rests on patience and a recognisable day. We avoid springing things on people, we keep routines familiar, and when somebody is distressed we go looking for the cause rather than simply trying to settle them. Relatives very often know exactly what helps, and we would far rather be told at the beginning. Where a physical disability affects how somebody gets about, we design around the person rather than expecting them to accommodate the building, and we are careful that helping with one task does not quietly turn into doing everything. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall, and we keep asking residents and relatives where we still fall short.

We at Bannigans are proud to offer residential care in the heart of Corby, North Northamptonshire, providing a welcoming home for adults living with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs. Our setting has been thoughtfully created to feel calm, familiar and supportive, giving every resident a place where they can truly feel at ease. Situated within the wider NN postcode area of the East Midlands, our home benefits from being part of the Corby community. This location allows residents to remain connected to familiar surroundings, whilst families visiting from across North Northamptonshire and beyond can reach us with ease. The environment is designed to feel domestic rather than clinical, offering comfortable communal spaces alongside private areas where residents can enjoy quiet time or personal interests. Our specialism lies in supporting younger adults and those with learning disabilities, autism and mental health conditions. In practice, this means we take the time to understand each person as an individual, learning what matters most to them, how they like to communicate and what helps them feel safe. We work closely with residents, their families and healthcare professionals to build routines and support plans that reflect real preferences, aspirations and personalities. Whether someone is with us for long term residential care or joining us for a period of respite, our aim is the same: to promote independence, choice and wellbeing every single day. For families considering respite care, we understand how important it is to know your loved one will be looked after with genuine warmth whilst you take a well deserved break or manage other commitments. We work to make transitions smooth and reassuring, keeping communication open throughout the stay. Our most recent CQC inspection in January 2024 rated us as Requires Improvement overall, with specific ratings of Requires Improvement in the Safe, Effective and Well-led domains, and Good in both Caring and Responsive. We believe transparency matters, and we want families to have a clear picture of where we are on our journey. The Good ratings in Caring and Responsive reflect what we hold dearest: the compassion of our team and the way we respond to the individual needs of the people we support. At the same time, we are actively working on the areas identified for improvement, taking meaningful steps to strengthen our practice and ensure every resident receives the highest possible standard of care. If you are exploring care options for a loved one in Corby or the wider North Northamptonshire area, we warmly invite you to get in touch. We would be delighted to answer your questions, share more about daily life at our home and arrange a visit so you can see our environment for yourself. Choosing the right care is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we are here to support you every step of the way.

    • Care Home

Orchard House is a residential care home in Kettering caring for older people, including those living with dementia or mental ill health, and people with physical disabilities. The house runs at a domestic pace. Help with washing, dressing, mobility and medication is given discreetly and when it suits the person, not when it suits a rota. Before somebody moves in we spend time learning how they have always run their day, and those preferences are written down so nobody has to keep explaining themselves. For people living with dementia we keep the day steady and the faces familiar, and we ask families to tell us about the life behind the person, the work they did and what calms them when they are anxious. We use that daily rather than filing it away. Where mental ill health is part of the picture, we work closely with community teams and include the person properly in decisions about their own care. Meals are cooked on the premises and mealtimes are sociable and unhurried. Visitors are welcome whenever they want to come, and we would much rather hear a small worry early than a large one later. Short respite stays are available, often to give a carer at home a rest or to help somebody recover confidence after hospital. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Laxton Hall is a residential care home near Corby for older people, including those living with dementia. The house sits in its own grounds, and a walk outside in decent weather is part of ordinary life here rather than an occasion. We provide residential care, help with the things that have become difficult, and company for people who had begun to find home a lonely place. Support with washing, dressing, medication and mobility is given discreetly by staff who know how each person likes things done, and we write that down so it does not depend on who is on shift. For people living with dementia we keep the day familiar and unhurried. We ask families to tell us about the life behind the person, including the work they did and the family they talk about, and we use it in conversation and to steady things when somebody is distressed. Meals are cooked on the premises and mealtimes stay sociable and relaxed. Relatives are part of the household as far as we are concerned, and visiting is not rationed. Short respite stays are available, often for people recovering after a spell in hospital or to give a carer at home a proper rest. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Duke's Court Care Home is a residential care home in Wellingborough, North Northamptonshire. We support older people who need help with daily living, along with younger adults, residents living with dementia or a mental health condition, people with a physical disability and those living with a visual or hearing impairment. We also offer respite stays for shorter periods. We support a broad mix of people here, so we plan around individuals rather than working to a formula. Residents decide when they get up, how they spend their time and what they eat. Meals are cooked on the premises and preferences are remembered. There is company and activity for those who want it and no pressure on anyone who does not. Staff take time to learn what helps a particular resident feel settled and what unsettles them, which matters enormously for anyone living with dementia or managing a mental health condition. For residents with a sensory impairment we make sure conversation and information actually reach them, because being left out of your own day is a dispiriting thing. We keep close contact with GPs, community mental health teams and district nurses so that health concerns are dealt with quickly, and we keep families properly informed. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable time. The Care Quality Commission most recently rated us good overall. The Ferns is a residential care home in Wellingborough. We support older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including people living with dementia, people living with a mental health condition, people with a learning disability or autism and people with a physical disability. We also take respite bookings. Because people arrive here by very different routes, we do not run the home to one pattern. Some residents need a good deal of hands on support through the day. Others mainly want a settled base, a bit of structure and somebody reliable to check in with. We work out which is which by asking, and we keep asking, because what somebody needs on arrival is rarely what they need a year later. People keep their own belongings around them, choose how the day goes and are not hurried through the parts that take longer than they once did. Families are welcome throughout the day and we would rather they came often and informally than waited for an invitation. Communication gets close attention here, because understanding a person properly is what allows them to have a say in their own life. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are considering residential or respite care in North Northamptonshire, please arrange to come and see us.

We aim for the feel of a household rather than an institution, with people keeping their own routines, their own belongings and a genuine say in how their day goes. Where we support somebody with a mental health condition, our approach is deliberately ordinary rather than clinical. We take time to understand what a good week looks like for a person and what tends to knock things off course, and we build support around that rather than around a fixed routine. Respite stays are available too, for people who need care for a short period and for family carers who need a break. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Younger adults whose needs are best met in a residential setting are welcome too, and we offer respite stays. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are putting that at the top rather than the bottom, because a family looking at homes for a relative deserves to hear it from us rather than find it elsewhere. We know which areas were identified, work is under way on them, and we will talk anybody through what has actually changed. The daily work here is what residents judge us on. Getting somebody up in the way they prefer. Meals worth sitting down to. Company when it is wanted and quiet when it is not. Noticing early when a person is not themselves. For people living with dementia, keeping faces and routines steady and following their pace rather than ours. We are Weston Villa, a residential care home in Kettering. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and we also offer respite stays. We plan around individuals rather than around a single routine. The people living here have quite different notions of a good week. Some want to be busy, with work, college, sport or regular groups and plenty of getting out into the town. Others want quiet and a rhythm they can rely on, and where change is unsettling we keep things steady and prepare carefully for anything unusual. This is their home, so decisions about food, decoration and how time is spent belong to the people living in it. Our job is to make those choices real, which sometimes means practical help with personal care, medication or cooking, and sometimes means standing back while somebody does something slowly for themselves. We also take positive risk seriously. Being overcautious on somebody else's behalf is easier for us and much worse for them, so decisions get talked through with the person and the people who know them well. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please contact us if you would like to look round.

Ashley Court is a residential care home in Kettering, North Northamptonshire. We are home to older people who need support with daily living, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. The care we provide is residential rather than nursing. Staff are on duty day and night to help with personal care, dressing, medication and meals and to keep the household running, while local doctors and district nurses look after clinical needs. For most older people that combination works well and leaves far more of their independence intact. Dementia care rests on consistency and on knowing the person. A day that runs in a familiar order, the same faces and surroundings that are easy to make sense of will settle somebody more surely than any activity programme. We take time to learn about a person's working life, family and habits, because that is what helps us understand them when words become difficult. Sight and hearing loss are taken seriously rather than worked around. Somebody who cannot follow what is happening will withdraw, and that withdrawal is far too easily mistaken for decline. Respite and short stays are available, for planned breaks and for recovery after illness. Please ring us if you would like to look round Ashley Court and talk things over with us.

    • Care Home

Welland House is a residential care home in Corby in North Northamptonshire. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are available. Because the people living here have genuinely different needs, we plan support one person at a time. What helps an older person feel settled is not what builds confidence in a younger adult with a learning disability, and we would rather do both properly than stretch one routine across everybody. That means paying attention to particulars: how somebody likes to be spoken to, what they can manage themselves and would rather we left alone, what tends to make a difficult day. Where a physical disability or sensory loss affects how somebody gets about, we design around the person rather than expecting them to accommodate the building. Small habits carry a lot of weight: saying who you are as you come into a room, leaving furniture exactly where it lives, checking that glasses and hearing aids are working. Understanding how each person communicates is essential, particularly where speech is not the main route. We learn each person's way, record it so that everyone responds the same, and keep checking we have understood. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall, and we keep asking the people living here what should change.

    • Care Home

Aspen House is a residential care home in Rushden. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. This is somebody's home before it is anything else. The people who live here choose how their rooms look, have a real say in meals and in the shape of the week, and are supported to keep up the relationships and interests that matter to them. The ordinary business of having preferences and making choices should not quietly disappear because somebody lives in a supported setting. Support is planned around each person. For some that means a full and busy week out in Rushden and the surrounding area, with work, college, clubs and family time. For others it means a quieter and highly predictable rhythm, which is an equally good way to live. With autistic people in particular we pay close attention to routine, to warning of change and to the sensory side of the environment. We give practical help with personal care, medication, meals and mobility, and we aim to give only as much as is wanted so that people keep hold of what they can do for themselves. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are considering Aspen House for yourself or for someone you support, please get in touch and come and look round.

    • Care Home

Addington Road is a residential care home in Wellingborough in North Northamptonshire. We support adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and younger adults, and we offer respite stays for people who usually live elsewhere. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We are proud of it and careful with it, because a rating describes one particular week and everything that earned it has to carry on happening afterwards. What sits behind it is not remarkable. This is people's home and they run it. Rooms are arranged how the person in them wants. The shopping list is decided by the people who will eat it. Weekend plans belong to whoever is going. We ask rather than assume and we accept being turned down. When somebody wants to try something we back them, including when it makes considerably more work for us. We also put real effort into understanding how each person communicates, particularly where speech is not the main way somebody tells us what they need. What we learn is written down and shared so that everybody responds the same way, which keeps the house predictable and gives people the confidence to take chances. And we take complaints seriously. Most of what we have improved here started with somebody saying plainly that something was not good enough.

    • Care Home

We are Aston House in Kettering, North Northamptonshire, a residential home supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. Most of the people who live here are younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. This is somebody's home before it is anything else. People choose how their rooms look, what they eat, how they spend their time and who they see. We support people to keep up with family and friends, to get to college, work or volunteering, to use local transport and services, and to take on more of their own daily life at whatever pace suits them. Communication is at the centre of the work. Not everyone here uses speech, and sensory loss can make things harder again, so we take real time to learn how each person expresses choice, discomfort and enjoyment, and we make sure new staff understand it before supporting anyone alone. We are equally careful about the practical detail, from equipment that fits properly to lighting and noise levels that make a room usable. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We treat it as a reference point rather than a conclusion. If you are looking for residential support in the Kettering area, please arrange to visit and meet the people who live here.

Manor Field is a residential care home in Corby, North Northamptonshire. We support older people and younger adults, including people with a learning disability, people who are autistic and people living with mental ill health, and we offer respite stays. We want to be open about our regulatory position. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have accepted the findings rather than argued with them, we are working through an improvement plan, and we have made changes to training, supervision and the way we record and review the support we give. Anyone thinking about a placement here should ask us about it directly. The daily work of the home carries on. Support is planned individually, because the people who live here have very different lives and needs. People choose their own food, keep their own routines, have a say in what happens and are supported to get out locally and keep up with family. Our team is expected to learn how each person communicates and to treat distress as something with a cause rather than as behaviour to be managed. If you are considering Manor Field for yourself or for a relative, please come and look round, ask the difficult questions and judge us on what you find rather than on what we say about ourselves.

Highmead House is a residential care home in Wellingborough, North Northamptonshire. We support older people who need help with daily life, including many living with dementia, and people with physical disabilities. We also offer respite stays. We are a home of a size where everybody is properly known, and that is the basis of everything else we do. Our team notices when somebody eats less than usual, sleeps badly, seems low or becomes unsteady on their feet, and it is dealt with the same day rather than at a review in a month's time. Residents run their own days. When to get up and go to bed, what to eat, whether to sit with others or keep to their own room with their own things around them. Rooms hold people's own furniture and photographs, and nobody comes in without knocking. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable hour. For residents living with dementia, consistency is what helps most, so we keep staffing settled and learn each person's history properly, which is what lets us make sense of what they are telling us. Where somebody has a physical disability, we work around what they can still do rather than taking over. Health needs are managed alongside local GPs and community nurses. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and look round.

We at Thorndale are proud to offer compassionate residential care in the welcoming town of Kettering, North Northamptonshire. Our home provides a comfortable and supportive setting for older people, with specialist expertise in dementia care and residential support tailored to each individual we welcome through our doors. Nestled within the NN postcode area of Kettering, Thorndale enjoys the benefits of its East Midlands location, offering residents a peaceful environment whilst remaining well connected to the surrounding community. The setting has been thoughtfully arranged to feel like a genuine home, where familiar comforts and a calm atmosphere help every resident feel settled, safe, and truly valued from the moment they arrive. Our care is centred on the needs of older people, with a particular focus on those living with dementia. We understand that memory related conditions can bring uncertainty for both the person affected and their loved ones, which is why our approach is gentle, patient, and person centred. Each resident is supported to maintain their dignity, independence, and sense of self, with daily routines shaped around personal preferences, life histories, and individual capabilities. For families, this means the reassurance of knowing their relative is understood as a whole person, not simply defined by a diagnosis. Alongside long term residential care, we also offer respite care for those needing shorter stays. Respite can be a lifeline for family carers who need a well earned break, or for individuals recovering from illness or a stay in hospital. During a respite stay at Thorndale, guests receive the same warm welcome and attentive support as our permanent residents, enjoying the full comforts of our home for as long as they need. Thorndale holds an overall rating of Good from the Care Quality Commission, with Good ratings achieved across every domain assessed, including Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. This consistent recognition reflects the dedication of our team and the standards we work to uphold every single day. For families, a CQC rating of Good across the board provides meaningful assurance that the home has been independently reviewed and found to deliver quality care in every aspect of daily life. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that choice. If you are exploring options for a loved one in Kettering or the wider North Northamptonshire area, we warmly invite you to get in touch with Thorndale. We would be delighted to answer your questions, share more about our approach, and help you feel confident in finding the right home for the person you care about.

Rushden is a care home in the town of the same name, and we support adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, including younger adults. We also offer respite stays. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding. We are genuinely pleased about that, and we try to keep it in proportion. It describes how we were working when we were looked at. It does not excuse us from anything, and the people who live here would be the first to notice if we started resting on it. If anything earned the rating, we think it is that we take people's own ambitions seriously. Someone here wants a job, someone else wants to travel, someone else wants to be left alone on a Sunday morning. All of that counts as a plan worth supporting, and the support gets built around it rather than the other way about. The house is run as a home. People choose how their rooms look, share in the shopping and cooking, and decide what to do with their days. Staff help with what is genuinely hard and step back everywhere else. Consistency matters here, particularly for autistic adults, so we work hard to keep the same team and to give notice of changes. Respite stays are prepared with visits beforehand. If you would like to come and see the house, you would be very welcome.

    • Care Home

Westhill Park Care Home is in Kettering, and we provide residential care for older people who need support with daily living. Respite stays are available too, planned in advance or arranged quickly when a family needs cover. Most of what makes a care home good is ordinary detail rather than anything grand. Knowing which chair is somebody's. Getting the tea right. Not hurrying a person through a wash because the morning is busy. We help with personal care, dressing, medication and mobility, doing it quietly and leaving as much privacy and choice with the resident as we can. Where somebody can still manage a task themselves, that is theirs to keep. Dementia care is a significant part of our work. We keep the daily rhythm and the surroundings steady, give people time to find their words instead of finishing their sentences, and take trouble to learn about earlier life, because knowing what somebody did for a living and what they loved tells us a great deal once language becomes unreliable. Families usually hold that story and we ask for it early. We would far rather hear about a small problem early than a large one later, so families who tell us when something is not right are doing us a favour rather than making a fuss. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and see us on an ordinary afternoon and ask us anything you like.

Dybdale Crescent is a residential care home in Wellingborough, and we support adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, including younger adults working towards a more independent life. Respite stays are available as well. Being a house rather than an institution is the point. Being properly known by the people who support you changes every hour of the day, and that is far easier here than in a large setting. The staff team stays consistent, the shape of the week holds, changes are explained before they happen, and we pay attention to noise, light and the sensory details that decide whether somebody can settle. Support covers personal care, medication, meals, money and the practical business of running a home. Wherever we can we do things alongside people rather than for them, and we are patient about it. A task done slowly by the person themselves is a better outcome than the same task done quickly by us. We are also interested in what people actually want from life. Work, college, hobbies, seeing family, getting out to places that matter to them. Our job is to make those things happen rather than to fill the day with activities chosen on somebody's behalf. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families, social workers and anyone considering the house for somebody they support are welcome to visit and ask us anything at all.

Kettonby Care Home in Kettering supports adults living with learning disabilities and autism, including younger adults and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Sensory impairment alongside a learning disability changes what good support looks like, and a good deal of our practice is built around that. How a room is arranged and kept arranged. How information is given, and how much warning somebody gets before anything changes. How staff announce themselves when they come into a space, and how they let a person know they are leaving it. These sound like details. For the people who live here they are the difference between a world that makes sense and one that keeps ambushing them. Communication is planned around each individual rather than around a general approach, and independence here is specific and practical. Finding your own way around the house. Making your own drink. Choosing your own day and being understood when you do. Respite stays are available. Agape Annexe is a small residential home in Kettering supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, including younger adults moving into a home of their own for the first time. We also offer respite stays, planned in advance so that a short stay is a visit somewhere familiar. We run the house as the residents' home rather than as our workplace. People choose how their bedrooms look, have a real say in the meals and the shopping, and get involved in cooking, laundry and looking after the place as much as they want to. Support covers personal care where it is needed, medication, health appointments and managing money, and it covers getting out to the things people care about, whether that is a job, a course, a gym, a club or seeing family. We pay close attention to how each person communicates and to what makes a day feel manageable. Predictable routines, clear information given in good time, and staff who understand somebody's particular sensitivities all make a genuine difference, so we get those details right and record what works. Where somebody becomes distressed we look at why rather than simply managing the behaviour. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We help with personal care where it is wanted, with cooking, laundry and shopping, with medication and appointments, and with managing money and correspondence. We also support people to get out into Kettering, to keep up the activities they enjoy and to stay close to family and friends. Communication and routine sit at the centre of the work here. Learning how a person asks for help, how they show that they are unhappy and what settles them when a day goes badly matters more than any written policy, so we take time over it and we write plans in a form the person can actually use. For residents with physical disabilities we pay close attention to mobility and to the practical arrangements that let someone do more for themselves. For residents with physical disabilities we pay close attention to mobility, to moving safely about the house and to the equipment and arrangements that let someone do more without help. Those practical details often decide whether a person feels capable or dependent, so we would rather get them right than treat them as an afterthought. Families are welcome whenever they wish to visit. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and we keep asking the people living here whether this feels like their home.

We are a residential care home in Kettering. The people who live here are mostly older, though we also support younger adults, and between them they bring a wide range of needs: dementia, mental health conditions, physical disabilities and loss of sight or hearing among them. What they have in common is that they need a home where help is at hand without their lives being taken over by it. We try to keep ordinary life going. Residents choose how their days run, keep their own belongings and routines, and are helped to stay in touch with the people and places that matter to them. Where someone is living with dementia we spend time learning about their history and habits, because knowing a person is what allows staff to settle them when they are anxious rather than simply managing the moment. Families are part of this. We would far rather you visited often, told us when something is not right and asked questions than felt you were intruding. We also offer respite stays, which can give a relative who provides care a planned break or support someone through a period of recovery. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are considering a care home for someone, come and see us. We will show you round, answer what we can and be straight with you about whether we are able to meet the needs you describe.

    • Care Home

Clanfield Residential Care Home is in Kettering, and we provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia and those whose physical disability means they need help to move about safely and comfortably. We are a residential home rather than a nursing one, so what we do is the daily business of living: helping people wash and dress, making sure medication is taken properly, cooking food people actually want to eat and making sure nobody spends the day alone unless that is their preference. Some of our residents need very little from us and simply like knowing that someone is there. Others need a great deal of support and receive it without any fuss. Dementia care here is built on familiarity. Keeping the same faces, the same routines and the same small rituals going makes a considerable difference, and we take time to learn what settles a particular person and what unsettles them. Respite stays are available as well, whether a family carer needs a planned break, has something else to attend to, or simply wants to know their relative is in safe hands for a fortnight. Families in North Northamptonshire find us easy to reach, and we like visitors to feel able to call in rather than book an appointment. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Do ring if you would like to come and look round.

    • Care Home

Westlands Care Home is a residential care home in Wellingborough, North Northamptonshire. We support a notably mixed group. Older adults live here, including many with dementia. So do people who have managed a mental health condition for years, people with a physical disability, people who are blind, partially sighted, deaf or hard of hearing, and some younger adults. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Running a home with that spread of need takes more thought than running one where everybody is alike, because no single routine will do. So we work out what each person's day ought to look like and then make the house fit around it rather than the other way round. One resident may want early meals and quiet evenings. Another may be out during the day and back late. Both are reasonable. Where sight or hearing has gone, an ordinary building starts working against a person, so we think about light, contrast, noise, signage and the way staff approach somebody. For residents with dementia we keep life predictable and surroundings familiar. Where a physical disability is involved the work is often about equipment, patience and allowing time. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and visit, and please talk to residents rather than only to us.

    • Care Home

Smythe House is a residential care home in Kettering supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people living with mental ill health, including younger adults. We also offer respite stays. This is somebody's home before it is anything else. People choose how their rooms look, what they eat, when they get up and how much of the day they spend in company. Those choices are most of what makes a place worth living in, and they take steady effort to protect when staff change and pressures build. Support is planned around what each person wants to be able to do rather than only around risk. Cooking, shopping, managing money, using the bus, getting to college, work or activities, and keeping up with family and friends. Where somebody needs a great deal of help, we still look hard for the parts they can take on themselves. Communication and environment get real attention. We learn how each person tells us what they want, including those who use little or no speech, and we adapt to them. Noise, lighting, predictability and having somewhere quiet to retreat to all shape how a day turns out. Where mental ill health is part of the picture, we work closely with community teams and raise concerns early. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Linden Manor is a residential care home in Wellingborough. We provide care for older people, including those living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available too. We want the home to feel like a household rather than an institution, which in practice means residents run their own days as far as they are able. People get up when they wake, eat what they actually like, and decide how much time to spend with others. Rooms are personalised from the start, and we encourage people to bring their own furniture and pictures. Where someone has a physical disability or reduced sight or hearing, we pay attention to the practical details. Equipment that suits the person, a layout that stays predictable, things kept where people expect to find them, and staff who adapt how they communicate. Dementia care rests on familiar staff, a steady rhythm and knowing something of a person's earlier life. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather be upfront about that than leave you to find it elsewhere. We know which areas were raised, there is work under way, and we are happy to go through any of it. Please come and visit, ask us directly what has changed, and judge the home on what you see.

    • Care Home

Together Nest Lane is a residential care home in Northamptonshire supporting adults living with mental ill health, including younger adults. We offer respite stays as well as longer term places. Many of the people who come to us have had an unsettled time beforehand, sometimes in hospital, sometimes in placements that did not work out. Nobody here is expected to settle quickly, and a slow start is not treated as a failure. Trust takes however long it takes. What we offer first is stability. A calm house, staff who are present and who know you, and a day that belongs to the person rather than to the rota. Residents choose how they spend their time. We will encourage someone who has withdrawn to come and join in, and we will equally leave a person in peace when that is what helps. Practical support covers medication, appointments, benefits and paperwork, cooking, laundry and looking after a room. Alongside that we work on the skills and confidence that make a more independent life possible, and we take people's own goals seriously. For younger adults in particular this is often a stage rather than a destination. We work closely with community mental health teams and raise concerns early. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch to visit.

    • Care Home

Here at Lancum House, we provide residential care for older people in the heart of Wellingborough, North Northamptonshire. We are a care home that genuinely feels like a home, and that matters enormously to us and to the people who live here. We support older adults with a range of needs, including residential care, dementia care and respite care. Whether someone moves in with us on a short term basis to recover or have a break, or whether Lancum House becomes their long term home, we aim to make sure they feel settled, respected and well looked after from the very first day. Dementia care is something we take seriously. We understand how unsettling it can be for someone living with dementia to adjust to a new environment, so we work hard to create calm, familiar routines and a reassuring atmosphere where residents feel safe and understood. We also take time to get to know each person individually, because good care starts with truly knowing someone. Our respite care gives families peace of mind when they need a break or when circumstances change unexpectedly. We welcome respite residents warmly and make sure they feel part of life at Lancum House during their stay. We are proud that our most recent Care Quality Commission rating is Good, which reflects the everyday effort our team puts into supporting residents with kindness and consistency. We are always looking at how we can do things better, and we welcome feedback from residents and families as a normal part of how we work. If you are considering care for yourself or someone you love, we would be very happy to show you around and have an honest conversation about whether Lancum House might be the right fit. Please do get in touch.

Arranging and funding a care home place in North Northamptonshire

Start with a care needs assessment

A placement should follow an assessment rather than a hurried search through brochures. The care needs assessment is free, open to anyone who appears to need care and support whatever their means, and it produces the written record of eligible needs that homes will want to work from. A practitioner from North Northamptonshire Council will look at personal care, mobility, nutrition, medication, mental wellbeing and the risks of staying at home. If you have been providing care yourself, ask for a carer's assessment at the same time, since that is a separate entitlement rather than a courtesy.

Fees, contributions and top up payments

Where needs are found eligible, a financial assessment of income and capital follows. The council may then meet the fees in full, meet part of them with a contribution from the person moving in, or conclude that the placement is privately funded. Weekly fees vary considerably between homes and rise where needs are greater, so ask each home for its current fee, precisely what that covers and what is billed separately, such as hairdressing, chiropody or escorted appointments. Where a family expects to add a top up payment to secure a particular home or room, put the arrangement in writing and be clear about who carries future increases.

Choosing between care homes in North Northamptonshire

Reading the inspection report

All 87 homes listed here are registered with the Care Quality Commission. With sixty five rated Good and eight rated Outstanding, most families will have several credible options, but ten homes currently hold Requires Improvement and five are not yet rated, so the individual report still matters. Inspectors judge whether a home is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led, and a home rated Good overall can be weaker in the one area that matters most to your relative. Check the date of the inspection too, because a home under new management may have moved on from the service last described.

What to notice on a visit

See every home you are seriously considering, and try to arrive around a mealtime rather than mid morning. Watch how staff speak to residents who are not asking for anything, whether people are dressed and occupied, and how quickly call bells are answered. Ask how many permanent staff are on duty by day and overnight and how much agency cover is used. Homes here range from larger settings such as Seagrave House Care Home and Gretton House to smaller houses like Lancum House and Kingly Terrace, and they feel quite different once you are inside.

Looking ahead

Ask what the home can manage if needs increase, and whether it is registered to support dementia. A home that cannot continue caring for someone as they become frailer means a second move at the worst possible time. Check the practical details as well: whether a room takes familiar furniture, how visiting works for relatives who are at work, and what happens about hospital appointments and transport.

Frequently asked questions about care homes in North Northamptonshire

How many care homes are there in North Northamptonshire?

North Northamptonshire has 87 CQC registered care homes: 7 Outstanding, 62 Good, 13 Requires improvement, 5 not yet rated. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.

How much does a care home cost in North Northamptonshire?

North Northamptonshire Council pays an average of £915 a week for residential care. Self-funders are typically asked £1,233 to £1,449 a week. East Midlands figure, because too few North Northamptonshire homes publish this price. 34 homes. Median £1,356. Published prices are often starting prices, and come from homes that publish fees, so treat them as a guide. Ask the home for its own price.

Which care homes in North Northamptonshire were inspected most recently?

Abbott House - Oundle (23 September 2026), Redclyffe Residential Care Home (8 September 2026) and Glenkindie Lodge Residential Care Home (25 August 2026) have the most recent CQC reports.

Can North Northamptonshire Council fund a residential care home placement?

It can, where a care needs assessment identifies eligible needs and a financial assessment of income and capital supports it. The council may meet the fees in full, meet part of them with a contribution from the person moving in, or decide that the placement is privately funded. If a family prefers a home costing more than the council will pay, a third party top up may be required and should be documented before the move. Requesting both assessments costs nothing and does not commit you to any particular home.

How do I arrange a care needs assessment in North Northamptonshire?

Contact the adult social care team at North Northamptonshire Council and explain what has changed at home. The assessment is free and available to anyone who appears to need care and support, regardless of savings. A practitioner will discuss personal care, mobility, medication, nutrition and safety, then record which needs are eligible for support. If you have been caring for the person yourself, ask for a separate carer's assessment during the same conversation.

How far ahead should I start looking at care homes in North Northamptonshire?

Start early, ideally while the person can still take part in choosing where they will live. Homes with strong inspection records often have waiting lists, and assessments, visits and funding arrangements all take time to complete. A hospital discharge can reduce the whole process to a matter of days. Having two or three homes already visited makes an urgent decision far less overwhelming.

Which residential care homes in North Northamptonshire are listed on Care Assura?

Care Assura lists 87 residential care homes serving North Northamptonshire, all registered with the Care Quality Commission. The listing includes homes such as Seagrave House Care Home, Gretton House, Grangefield Residential Care Home and Kingly Terrace. Each profile carries the current CQC rating where one has been published, together with the details needed to arrange a visit. Filtering by the town you need keeps the shortlist practical.

What should I ask when visiting a care home in North Northamptonshire?

Ask how many permanent staff are on duty during the day and overnight, and how often agency staff are used. Find out how care plans are written and reviewed, how families are told when someone becomes unwell, and what happens on an ordinary weekday afternoon. Request the weekly fee in writing along with what it includes and what is charged as an extra. Ask what would happen if your relative's needs increased and whether the home could carry on caring for them.

What is the difference between a care home and a nursing home?

A residential care home provides accommodation with personal care, so staff help with washing, dressing, meals, medication and daily routines. A nursing home offers the same personal care but also has registered nurses on duty at all times, allowing it to meet clinical needs such as complex wound care or tube feeding. Some homes are registered to provide both, and a care needs assessment will indicate which category is appropriate. Settling this early avoids a further move a few months later.
