- Care Home
Milton Lodge is a residential care home in Fleetwood, Lancashire. We support older people, including those living with dementia, and people with physical disabilities. Younger adults whose needs are best met in a residential setting are welcome too, and we offer respite stays. We aim to keep life here as close to ordinary as it can be. People get up when they are ready, keep their own things around them, eat food they actually like and spend the day the way that suits them. Some want company from morning to night, some want a quiet room and the paper. Neither is a problem to be managed. For people living with dementia, the constants do most of the good. The same faces, the same room, meals at the times the body expects, and staff who neither hurry nor correct. We build around what somebody can still do rather than listing what they cannot. For people with a physical disability, we get the practical detail right and respect how a person prefers to be helped. Respite stays give a family carer a planned break with proper support in place. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit on a normal day and see for yourself how the home runs.

- Care Home
Here at The Yachtsman Care Home, we are proud to be part of the Fleetwood community in Lancashire, offering a warm and welcoming place that our residents genuinely call home. We provide residential care, dementia care, respite care and older person care, meaning we are well placed to support a wide range of needs as they change over time. Whether someone is joining us for a short stay to recover or rest, or making The Yachtsman their permanent home, we aim to make that transition as smooth and comfortable as possible for both the individual and their family. Our team works hard to get to know each resident properly, not just their care needs but their preferences, their routines, the things that bring them comfort and the things that make them smile. That kind of familiarity takes time to build, and we think it is one of the most important things we offer. Good care is built on genuine relationships and on actually listening to the people we support. We were pleased to receive a rating of Good from the Care Quality Commission, and we see that as both an encouragement and a reminder to keep improving. It reflects the effort our staff put in every day and the standards we hold ourselves to as a team. Fleetwood is a town with real character, and we think The Yachtsman reflects that. We are not a faceless setting. We are a place where familiar faces greet you at the door, where family members are always welcome, and where the day to day experience of living here genuinely matters to us. If you would like to find out more or arrange a visit, we would be very happy to hear from you.

- Care Home
We at Guy's Court Residential Care Home are proud to offer a warm and welcoming residential care setting in the heart of Fleetwood, Lancashire. Our home has been thoughtfully designed as a place where older people, adults living with dementia, and younger adults can feel truly at home, supported by a team who genuinely care about their wellbeing. Nestled within the coastal community of Fleetwood, our home benefits from the calm and familiar surroundings of this well loved Lancashire town. The setting offers residents the comfort of a homely environment whilst remaining conveniently placed for family and friends across the FY postcode area and wider North West region. Visitors are always warmly welcomed, and we understand how important it is for loved ones to feel at ease whenever they come to spend time with those in our care. Our specialisms reflect the breadth of support we provide. For older people, we offer compassionate residential care that focuses on preserving independence, dignity, and daily enjoyment. For those living with dementia, our team takes a patient and person centred approach, learning each resident's individual story, preferences, and routines so that familiarity and reassurance are woven into every day. We also support younger adults whose needs are best met in a residential setting, ensuring that our care is tailored rather than one size fits all. Respite care is available too, offering families a trusted place for their loved one to stay during short breaks, recovery periods, or when regular carers need time to rest and recharge. In practice, this means residents receive continuity of support, warm daily interactions, and the reassurance of a familiar team who understand them as individuals. Families rightly want confidence in the quality of care their loved one receives. Following its most recent inspection in December 2022, Guy's Court Residential Care Home was rated Good by the Care Quality Commission, achieving a Good rating across every one of the five key domains: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. This consistent standard reflects our ongoing commitment to safe practice, effective support, genuinely caring relationships, responsive care planning, and strong leadership throughout the home. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that choice. If you are exploring residential, dementia, or respite care in Fleetwood for someone you love, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please get in touch to arrange a visit, ask questions, or simply talk through what you are looking for. We are here to listen, to reassure, and to help you take the next step with confidence.

- Care Home
Fleetwood Hall is a residential care home in Fleetwood, Lancashire, caring for older people including those living with dementia. We offer permanent places and shorter respite stays. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Much of what makes a care home good is unglamorous and repeated daily. Food that people actually want to eat. Staff who remember that one resident takes her tea strong and likes the window open before breakfast. Enough time in the morning that nobody feels hurried through washing and dressing. We put our effort into those things, because they are what residents notice. For people living with dementia, consistency and familiarity do more good than anything else we could buy. We keep routines steady, surroundings easy to understand and faces familiar, and we ask families to tell us about the person's life so that our team can make sense of what is being said and respond to the feeling behind it. We do not argue with someone about what year it is. Families are welcome at sensible hours and we would much rather you came often and told us when something was not right. We also welcome people for respite, whether after a hospital stay or to give a family carer a genuine rest. If you are starting to think about care for someone you love, come and see us, have a look round and ask the difficult questions.

- Care Home
We provide short breaks in Fleetwood for people across Fylde and Wyre, offering planned stays away from home for adults who need support, and a proper rest for the families who usually provide it. A short break should be something the person looks forward to rather than something endured, so we plan each stay around what somebody actually enjoys. We support adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, younger adults, people living with dementia, people with a physical disability, and people living with sight or hearing loss. Because stays are short, getting the detail right from the first hour matters enormously. We ask families how somebody communicates, what settles them, what unsettles them, what they eat and how they like their day to run, and then we follow it. For autistic guests in particular, we try to keep surprises to a minimum, explaining what will happen and when, and keeping a quiet space available for anyone who needs to step away. Families often tell us the hardest part is handing over. We would rather people visited beforehand, met the team and saw the place, so that the first stay is not the first time anyone sets foot through the door. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. If you are considering a short break for someone, please get in touch and we will talk it through at your pace.

Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Fleetwood
The assessment to request first
Before any fee is discussed, it is worth securing a care needs assessment, which anyone appearing to need care and support may request regardless of savings or income. The assessment sets down what a person actually struggles with, which is a steadier basis for conversations with managers than a family's own account under pressure. A request to Hampshire County Council Adult Social Care starts that process, and the written outcome can be shared with every home you approach. Where a spouse or adult child is providing unpaid support, a separate carer assessment can be requested at the same time.
Deciding who contributes
A financial assessment follows, setting capital and income against the national thresholds. Below the upper threshold the authority may pay part of the fees, with its share falling as capital rises, while above it a placement is normally funded privately. If a registered nursing need is later confirmed, a health service contribution may apply, although none of the homes on this page holds nursing registration, so a change of that kind would usually mean a change of home.
Making sense of a fee quote
Weekly charges differ by home, by room and by the support agreed, so an early figure is a starting point rather than a settled price. Ask for a written breakdown showing what the fee excludes, since hairdressing, chiropody, outings and some personal items are often billed on top, and ask what notice is given before an increase. Ask too what happens to the arrangement if funding status changes partway through a stay.
Choosing between dementia care homes in Fleetwood
Registration marks the limit of what a home can do
Guy's Court Residential Care Home, Fleetwood Hall, Milton Lodge Rest Home, The Yachtsman Care Home and Fylde and Wyre Short Break Services are all registered for residential care: accommodation with help over washing, dressing, medication, meals and the shape of the day. Qualified nurses are not required on duty in that category. Ask each manager where the line sits for them, and how they work with visiting health professionals when a resident's condition shifts.
When every home shares a rating
With a rating of Good held across all five, the headline word stops being a way to choose. The reports behind it still are. Inspectors answer five separate questions about safety, effectiveness, care, responsiveness and leadership, and two homes can reach the same overall judgement by quite different routes. Check the date of each inspection as well, because an older report describes a staff team that may since have changed considerably.
Judge the dementia practice, not the furnishings
Ask what dementia training staff complete and how recently, how the team responds to distress or to someone wanting to keep walking, and whether familiar workers appear reliably across the week. Arrange a visit in the late afternoon, when tiredness shows and the atmosphere is harder to stage, and notice whether residents are addressed as adults and whether anyone calling out is answered.
Frequently asked questions about dementia care homes in Fleetwood
How many dementia care homes are there in Fleetwood?
Fleetwood has 5 CQC registered care homes that are registered for dementia care, out of 7 CQC registered care homes in Fleetwood: 5 Good. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.
Which dementia care homes in Fleetwood were inspected most recently?
Fylde and Wyre Short Break Services (28 September 2026), Guy's Court Residential Care Home (9 December 2022) and The Yachtsman Care Home (12 July 2022) have the most recent CQC reports.
Will Hampshire County Council pay towards a dementia care home placement?
It may, though the answer arrives in two parts. Hampshire County Council first completes a care needs assessment to confirm that residential dementia care is the right form of support, then a financial assessment measuring capital and income against the national thresholds. The contribution towards fees falls as capital rises, and above the upper threshold families normally meet the cost themselves. It is worth asking the social care team to explain in writing what would happen if savings reduced during a stay, since that question is easier to settle early than later.
How do I request a care needs assessment in Fleetwood?
Approach the adult social care team at Hampshire County Council, which is responsible for carrying out these assessments. The right to an assessment applies to anyone who appears to need care and support, whatever their savings, and a relative can make the request with the person's agreement. The assessment considers what the person finds difficult from day to day, what matters to them and what risks have appeared at home. You should be given the outcome in writing, which then serves as a clear brief when you speak to individual homes.
How early should a family start looking at dementia care homes?
Looking a few months ahead of any pressing need puts you in a far stronger position than arranging a move during a crisis. With five matching homes in Fleetwood, a single vacancy can change what is realistically available, so ask each one how its waiting list operates and whether a room can be held. Starting early also leaves time for a council assessment, which can take some weeks to arrange. Where a hospital discharge is already being planned, tell the ward team promptly so the assessment and the search can run together.
Which dementia care homes are listed in Fleetwood?
Five providers match this search: Guy's Court Residential Care Home, Fleetwood Hall, Milton Lodge Rest Home, The Yachtsman Care Home and Fylde and Wyre Short Break Services. Each is registered with the Care Quality Commission as a residential care home. All five currently hold a rating of Good, so the inspection reports rather than the ratings are what will separate them. Each profile on this page links to the relevant report in full.
What is worth asking during a visit to a dementia care home?
Ask specifically about dementia training, when staff last completed it and who leads on dementia practice within the home. Ask how the team responds when a resident becomes distressed, wants to walk at night or declines help with washing, because those answers describe the culture more faithfully than any brochure. Enquire how consistent the staff team is across a week, since recognition depends on familiar faces. It is also reasonable to ask how families are involved in reviewing a care plan and how past concerns were resolved.
How does a dementia care home differ from a dementia nursing home?
A dementia care home is registered to provide accommodation together with personal care, which covers help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and the structure of the day. A dementia nursing home holds an additional registration requiring qualified nurses on duty, so it can manage continuing clinical needs such as complex wounds, tube feeding or unstable medical conditions. Every home listed here is registered for residential care, so none provides nursing on site. If a relative has health needs alongside dementia, or they are expected to increase, discuss that with a manager before accepting a place.
