About Us
The Avenue Care Home is in Malvern. We provide residential care for older people and also support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental ill health and younger adults. Respite stays are available too.
Having residents of different ages and needs living together works better than people often expect, provided it is thought about rather than left to chance. Older residents frequently enjoy the company and a bit of life about the place, and younger residents benefit from a settled household rather than an institutional one. What makes it work is not assuming everybody wants the same things.
For residents with a learning disability or who are autistic, we treat the environment itself as part of the support. Noise, lighting, how predictable the day is, and whether there is somewhere quiet to go when everything becomes too much. We also learn how each person communicates, including those who use little or no speech.
Where mental ill health is part of the picture, we keep things calm and consistent, work closely with community teams and raise concerns early.
The Malvern hills are on the doorstep and getting out is a normal part of the week.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit The Avenue and ask us anything.
