About Us
We are Avon House Rest Home at Balcombe near Haywards Heath, supporting older people and younger adults.
What we offer is residential care done properly rather than anything more elaborate. Help with washing, dressing and moving about safely. Support with medication. Meals worth sitting down to. Warm rooms, and company for those who want it. We are not a nursing home and we are clear with families about that from the first conversation.
The setting is quiet, which suits most of the people who come to us, and the garden gets proper use when the weather allows.
The home is run around the people living in it. Nobody is woken to suit a rota. Breakfast happens when somebody comes down rather than at a fixed hour. Some residents like the sitting room and the conversation that fills it, others would rather keep to their own room and their own quiet.
Our staff stay long enough to know people properly, which is how you notice that somebody is quieter than usual or off their food before it becomes serious. We keep families in the picture and welcome visitors whenever suits them.
Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please contact us to look round.
