About Heathside Retirement Home

We are a residential home in Altrincham for older people, offering both long term places and shorter respite stays when a family carer needs a rest. We do not aim at anything elaborate. Warm, well fed, promptly helped, and free to arrange your own day. Most complaints in this sector come from failing one of those. A resident is a person with sixty or ninety years behind them, and we think our first job is to learn some of it. Otherwise we are looking after a stranger indefinitely. Respite guests are properly welcomed rather than merely accommodated. We ask beforehand how the person likes things done, because a short stay gives us no time to learn it gradually. We ask people what a good day would look like for them, and then we try to arrange more of those and fewer of the other kind. We take complaints seriously rather than defensively. If a resident or a relative raises something, we would rather deal with it properly that week than let it become a grievance. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Families are welcome to arrive unannounced.
