About Us
We are a care home in Torquay, part of Keychange Charity, caring for older people and younger adults. We support people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and people affected by sight or hearing loss.
Being part of a charity shapes how we think about the home. Decisions about staffing, food and the fabric of the building are made with the people living here in mind rather than with an eye on a return, and everyone is welcome regardless of background or belief. What we ask of ourselves is patience, kindness and treating people as individuals rather than as a set of needs.
Support covers personal care, medicines, mobility and everyday life, given at whatever level each person requires and no more. For people living with dementia, we keep routines calm and familiar and train our team to respond to the feeling behind what someone says. For younger adults and people with disabilities, we look for what independence can be kept or regained.
Respite stays are available and planned with the same thought as permanent places.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Anyone considering the home for themselves or a relative is welcome to visit, meet the team and ask us anything, including the awkward questions.
