About Beechmount
Beechmount is a residential care home in Torquay, Torbay. We provide a home for older people who need support with daily living, including people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. We are not a nursing home. What we offer is residential care: help with washing and dressing, medication given on time, meals cooked here, laundry done, and staff on duty through the night as well as the day. Doctors and district nurses come in when clinical care is needed. For a great many older people that turns out to be exactly the right amount of support, because it takes away the effort and the worry without taking away the independence. Dementia care rests on consistency and on knowing the person. A familiar order to the day, the same faces and surroundings that are easy to read will settle somebody more surely than anything else. We take time to learn about a person's working life, family and habits, because that is what explains them to us when words begin to fail. For residents with a physical disability, time is what matters most, and we build the day around that rather than around a timetable that suits us. Torquay is a good place to be, with the sea close by. Respite and short stays are available. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Do come and see us.
