About Elmfield House

Elmfield House is a residential care home in Woking, Surrey. We provide a home for older people who need support with daily living, including people living with dementia, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. We are not a nursing home. What we offer is residential care: help with washing and dressing, medication given on time, meals cooked here, laundry done, and staff on duty through the night as well as the day. Doctors and district nurses come in when clinical care is needed. For a great many older people that turns out to be exactly the right amount of support, because it takes away the effort and the worry without taking away the independence. Dementia care rests on consistency and on knowing the person. A familiar order to the day, the same faces and surroundings that are easy to read will settle somebody more surely than anything else. We take time to learn about a person's working life, family and habits, because that is what explains them to us when words begin to fail. Sight and hearing loss are taken seriously rather than worked around. Respite and short stays are available. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
