About Livingstone House

We are Livingstone House in Dorking, Surrey, a residential home supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. Most of the people we support are younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. We aim to run a house rather than a unit. People have their own rooms, arranged to their taste, and a genuine say in how the household works. We support people to keep in touch with family and friends, to get out to the places they enjoy, and to take on more of their own routine where they want to, whether that is cooking, managing money or travelling independently. Everything depends on knowing people well. We learn how each person communicates, what unsettles them and what helps them recover from a difficult day, and we make sure anyone new understands it before working alone. Consistency of staffing matters more here than almost anything else we could offer. We should be open about our position. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have accepted the findings, worked through them with our staff team, with the people who live here and with their families, and we are making the changes steadily rather than claiming they are already complete. If you are considering a placement in the Dorking area, please visit us, meet the people who live here and ask us directly about our inspection and what has followed from it.
