About Us

We are a respite house in Stoke on Trent supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, younger adults, and people with physical disabilities or sight and hearing loss. Short breaks are what we do, and we think they should be enjoyable in their own right rather than simply a way of giving families a rest.

Before anybody stays with us for the first time, we get to know them properly. We find out what their days normally look like, what they enjoy, what unsettles them and how they communicate. That information stays with us, so a returning visitor does not have to start from the beginning each time.

Routines that matter at home are kept exactly as they are here. Where speech is difficult we use the signs, pictures or objects somebody already trusts rather than expecting them to adapt to us. People choose how they spend their time, whether that means getting out and about or keeping things quiet and familiar.

For families, a break is only restful if you trust the people looking after your relative. We would much rather you rang during a stay than sat at home worrying, and we are happy to go through arrangements in as much detail as you want beforehand.

If you are looking at short breaks for yourself or a family member, please get in touch and come and see the house.
