About Us
Compassionate Lodge is a residential care home near Stoke on Trent, and we support a wider range of adults than most homes of our size. That is deliberate. People do not arrive with a single label, and we would rather build support around an individual than turn somebody away because their needs sit across two categories. We provide residential care for older people, and we support adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, and people living with mental ill health. We also support people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss, and we work with adults recovering from eating disorders and with people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or drug use. Some of those we support are younger adults. Alongside permanent places we offer respite stays. Supporting that mix well means being clear about what each person needs from us, so every plan is written with the individual, reviewed regularly, and shared with the professionals involved in their care. Where risk is part of the picture we talk about it openly and look for ways to support somebody safely rather than simply saying no. We are registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission. Anyone thinking about a placement is welcome to visit, meet the staff on duty and ask us difficult questions.

Will they support end of life care, so there is no move at the hardest time?
Ask the home. End of life care is not listed on the register. Ask the manager whether residents can remain in the home with hospice or district nurse support.
Can she bring her cat or dog?
Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.
Can a couple stay together?
Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.
Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?
Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.
Do they take younger adults as well as older people?
Yes. Compassionate Lodge supports younger adults as well as older people. Source: CQC register
