About Us

We are Ashby House, a residential care home in Burton on Trent. We support adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions and people with a visual or hearing impairment, including younger adults. Respite stays are available.

This is a home first. The people who live here decide how their week runs, what is cooked, how the place looks and how much company they want on any given day. Our job is to make those choices real, which sometimes means practical help with personal care, medication or cooking, and sometimes means standing back while somebody does something slowly for themselves.

We plan around individuals rather than around a routine. Some of the people here want a busy week with college, work, sport or regular groups. Others want a quiet and highly predictable rhythm, and where change is unsettling we keep things steady and prepare carefully for anything unusual. Communication gets proper attention too, because how somebody prefers to be given information is the basis of everything else.

We also take positive risk seriously, talking decisions through with the person and those who know them well.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please contact us if you would like to look round.
