About Us
Mount Pleasant Care Home is a residential home near Burton on Trent for older people, including those living with dementia, and we also support some younger adults whose needs suit a home of this kind.
We help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and anything else that has become difficult, and we try to leave people in charge of everything else. Residents decide when they get up and go to bed, where they spend the day, what they eat and whether they want company or a quiet room with the door closed.
For residents living with dementia we keep the house familiar and the staff consistent, explain what is happening as we go and take time to understand what is behind a change in mood rather than treating it as a problem to be managed. Families usually know a person far better than any assessment does, and what they tell us shapes how we work.
Meals are cooked here, we ask people what they actually want to eat and nobody is hurried through a plate. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable time and families are free to stay for a cup of tea or take a relative out for the afternoon.
Respite stays are available for family carers needing a break or for somebody regaining strength after illness. Please ring us if you would like to visit and look round.
