About Us
We are a residential care home on Derby Road in Burton on Trent, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults. Most of those living here are younger adults, and we also offer respite stays.
We are a small home, so attention is not rationed. That is worth more to most of the people here than any facility a larger place could offer.
How somebody's room looks is up to them, and so is a good part of what goes on the shopping list. Where a person wants a job or a course, that is the point of our involvement.
Predictability is something we take particularly seriously. For many of those living here, knowing exactly what is happening and who will be on shift is the difference between a settled day and a difficult one.
Residents' rooms are theirs, and we treat them that way. We do not move furniture, tidy possessions or let ourselves in without knocking.
We pay attention to pain, including in people who cannot easily tell us about it. Unexplained agitation is usually a signal rather than a behaviour.
The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. We keep the standard by noticing the things that are easy to let slide.
