About Us
Newbrae Care Home is a residential care home in Westcliff on Sea, Southend on Sea. We care for older people, including people living with dementia, people living with a physical disability and people living with sight or hearing loss, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places.
We try to run the home around the people in it. That sounds obvious and it is surprisingly easy to lose. It means getting up when you want to, eating what you actually like, having your own room treated as your own, and not being hurried through personal care because the clock says so. For people living with dementia it also means familiar faces and an unhurried pace, which prevents a great deal of distress before it starts.
Where someone has reduced sight or hearing we adapt how we communicate, and we make sure they are included in conversations about their own care rather than talked about across the room.
Relatives are welcome here and we would always rather be told early when something is not right. Honesty in both directions keeps a home safe.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are considering residential care in Westcliff on Sea or the wider Southend area, please arrange to come and look around, meet our team and talk to the people who live here.
