About Us
Crowstone House is a residential care home in Westcliff on Sea. We care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays for those who need care for a shorter time.
Caring well for someone with dementia depends on knowing them properly, so we spend time early on learning about a person's working life, their family, the music they grew up with and the routines that steady them. That knowledge is what staff draw on through the day, and it is the difference between settling somebody who is distressed and simply managing the moment.
For people with sight or hearing loss, the practical details matter enormously. Lighting, familiar layouts, unhurried conversation and equipment that works when it is needed are the things that decide whether somebody stays independent, and we treat them as ordinary practice rather than as extras.
Being near the seafront is a genuine advantage. A change of scene and some fresh air do more for most people than anything we could organise indoors, and we make time for it.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families are welcome at any reasonable hour, and we would always rather you came and saw the house for yourself.
