About Kathleen Chambers House
Kathleen Chambers House is a residential care home in Burnham on Sea, Somerset. We offer older people a settled, permanent home, and we also provide respite stays for people who need care for a short period or whose family carer needs a break. Most of our residents need help with washing and dressing, moving about safely, medication and meals, and reassurance that somebody is nearby through the night. Many are living with dementia, and we let that shape the whole house rather than treating it as a separate wing. The day follows a recognisable pattern, the same staff are around, people keep their own belongings and habits, and somebody who is anxious gets time and company rather than correction. We also support people living with sight or hearing loss, where the small things make the difference: announcing ourselves clearly, describing what we are doing, and making sure information actually reaches somebody in a form they can use. Food is cooked here and people are asked what they would like. There is a sociable lounge and there is somewhere quiet, the seafront is close enough for a trip out, and families visit whenever they can. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please arrange to come and see us and talk to whoever is on duty.
