About Rivers

Rivers is a residential home in Worksop supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions, and people with a physical disability. Many of the people here are younger adults, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We run this as somebody's home rather than as a service they happen to live inside. The people here have their own routines, their own interests and their own firm views about how the house should work, which is exactly as it should be. Support is built around each person: what they want to do with their time, the help they need to do it, and the parts of life they would rather manage themselves. Because many of the people here are younger adults, the point of the support is a life rather than a placement. Friends and family, getting out into Worksop and further afield, work or college where that is wanted, real choices about food and routine, and support that steps back as confidence grows. Communication gets close attention. So much of what goes wrong in this kind of support comes down to somebody not being understood or not being given enough time, and we would rather go slowly than get that wrong. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. Families and professionals are welcome to visit and see how the house runs.
