About Us
Holles Street in Worksop is a short breaks home, providing planned stays for adults who live the rest of the time with their families or in their own homes. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and people living with dementia.
Short breaks have to work for two sets of people at once. For the person staying, it should feel like a change of scene they look forward to rather than an upheaval, so we get to know somebody properly before their first visit, keep the same room for them where we can, and keep their routines, food preferences and ways of doing things exactly as they are at home. For the family or carer, a break is only a break if they are not worrying the whole time, so we are specific with them beforehand about how we will handle the things that matter, and we ring if anything changes.
Help with personal care, medication, mobility and health needs is given the way the person is used to, written down in detail. Where somebody communicates without speech, we learn how, and we check what we think we understand rather than assuming.
Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.
