About Us
Whitehaven is a residential care home in Sheringham, Norfolk, for older people who need care, company and a settled place to live. We are a house rather than an institution, and the day here has the ordinary shape of meals, conversation, fresh air and rest.
Our care is residential rather than nursing. We help with washing and dressing, medication, meals, mobility and company, and we call in community health professionals whenever something more clinical is needed. Just as important are the things that are harder to write into a care plan: being listened to, having proper conversation, and somebody noticing when a resident seems quieter or less well than usual. Respite stays are available as well, giving family carers a proper break.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather set that out here ourselves than leave a family to come across it later and wonder why we said nothing. The areas identified are where our effort is going at present, and we are not asking anybody to take our word for it. Please visit during an ordinary day, speak to the people who live here and judge us on what you find.
