About Us

The Hollies and Hollies Lodge is a residential care home in Norwich. We support younger adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people living with a mental health condition.

We are two houses working closely together, which lets us keep each one small and settled while sharing the skills and cover of a larger team. The people who live here have their own rooms and a genuine say in how the household runs, from the shopping list to what happens at the weekend.

Our aim is an ordinary life rather than a well managed one. Work, college, volunteering, clubs, friendships, family and the everyday freedom to change your mind. Where something looks difficult or risky, our first question is how to make it possible rather than whether to permit it.

Communication is where most of our effort goes, because nearly every difficulty in this kind of support traces back to somebody not being understood. We learn how each person tells us what they want, in whatever form that takes, and we make sure the whole team can read it. When somebody is distressed we look at what we might change about the environment or our own approach before we look at the person.

For anyone whose mental health fluctuates, we adjust to how somebody is week by week. Sometimes the achievement is a busy sociable week and sometimes it is getting through the day, and both get the same respect.

Respite stays are available.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good.
