About Chiswick House

We are Chiswick House, a residential care home in Norwich, Norfolk, supporting older people who need help with everyday living. We think of this as somebody's home rather than as a facility, and that shapes the small decisions as much as the large ones, from how people are greeted in the morning to whether they have a real say in what is on the menu. Everyone here keeps their own room, their own belongings and as much of their own routine as they wish. Some people enjoy company and the busier parts of the day, others prefer quiet and their own space, and neither choice needs explaining. Help with washing, dressing, medication and getting about is given at the person's pace and as discreetly as possible, because being supported should not mean being hurried. We also provide respite stays. A short planned stay gives a family carer a genuine break, or helps somebody rebuild confidence after a spell in hospital before returning home, and we prepare for those visits properly rather than treating them as filling a spare room. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us outstanding overall. We are proud of that, though what it really reflects is the ordinary consistency of the team here rather than anything dramatic, and it is something that has to be earned again every day. Relatives and friends are welcome whenever they wish to come. If you are looking at homes in Norwich, please come and see us.
