About Us
Hillcrest is a residential care home in Norwich, providing a settled home for older people who have reached the point where living alone has become difficult. Caring for people living with dementia is a large part of what we do.
We are not a nursing home, and it is worth being clear about that. What we offer is residential care: help with washing and dressing, medication given on time, meals cooked here, laundry done, and staff on duty through the night as well as the day. Doctors and district nurses come in when clinical care is needed. For a great many older people that turns out to be exactly the right amount of support, because it takes away the effort and the worry without taking away the independence.
Dementia care rests on consistency and on knowing the person. A familiar order to the day, the same faces and surroundings that are easy to read will settle somebody more surely than any programme of activities. We take time to learn about a person's working life, family and habits, because that is what makes sense of things when words begin to fail.
Beyond the help they need, residents run their own days, and visitors are welcome rather than merely tolerated.
Respite and short stays are available.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Do come and see Hillcrest for yourself.

Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.
