About Us
Woodstock is a residential care home in Dereham supporting older people, including many living with dementia and people with a visual or hearing impairment. We support some younger residents too, and we welcome respite guests.
We run the home as a household. People get up when they are ready, eat what they want and spend the day as they choose. Staff learn residents' histories rather than just their needs, because knowing a person's life is what makes it possible to care for them properly.
Dementia care takes up much of our attention. We keep routines familiar, the building calm and the staffing as consistent as we can, and we follow the person rather than correcting them. When someone is distressed we look for what lies behind it instead of treating the distress itself as the problem, and families are often the ones who know the answer.
For residents living with a sensory impairment we think carefully about how a room sounds and looks, how we approach someone and how we make sure information reaches them in a form they can use. Those habits either protect independence or quietly erode it.
Respite guests receive exactly what permanent residents receive.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good.
