About Ocean Heights Residential Home
We are Ocean Heights Residential Home in Sheerness, Kent. We provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia and people with a physical disability, and we also take respite stays. Residential care means helping with the parts of daily life that have become hard work and leaving everything else in the hands of the person themselves. Washing and dressing, meals, medication, getting about safely, and the ordinary company that makes a day worth having. For health needs beyond our registration we work alongside district nurses and GPs rather than stretching to cover them, and we tell families plainly where that line falls. Dementia shapes much of our day. We have found that correcting somebody's account of things achieves nothing, and that knowing who a person has been tells us far more than any list of symptoms. Distress nearly always has a cause, and it is more often practical than people expect. For residents with a physical disability the practical details matter most: enough time that nothing is rushed, equipment set up properly, and asking the person how they prefer things done. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and do not currently hold an overall rating.
