About Sunnyfields
Sunnyfields is a residential care home in Sheerness, Kent. The people living here include older people and younger adults, people with a learning disability or autism, people with a physical disability, people with sight or hearing loss and people managing mental health conditions. Respite stays are available. Because the people living here need quite different things from us, support is planned with each person rather than run to one pattern. People have their own rooms, their own belongings and their own routines, and they have a real say in how their days go. Support is about making ordinary things possible rather than doing them for people, and we are careful about that distinction because independence is quietly worn away by help that arrives too quickly. Communication matters a great deal to us. Not everybody here uses many words, and where somebody has sight or hearing loss as well we take particular care over how we communicate, giving the time needed to understand properly rather than assuming. Plans are written with the person and changed when they stop fitting. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep examining our practice around choice and privacy, where any home can drift without noticing. If you are considering a place or a respite stay with us, please come and visit, meet the people who live here and ask us whatever you need to know.
