About Lavender Fields

Lavender Fields in Sevenoaks provides residential care for older people, including many residents living with dementia, residents with a physical disability and residents with a visual or hearing impairment. We are a home rather than an institution, and we try to keep daily life here comfortable, familiar and unhurried. People get up when they are ready and spend their time as they wish, whether that is in company in the lounge, out in the garden when the weather allows, or quietly in their own room. Meals are cooked on the premises and we will gladly make something different for anyone who fancies it. Support with washing and dressing is given calmly, because dignity is largely a matter of pace and manner. Where a resident has a sensory impairment we pay attention to the small things that make a difference, such as saying who we are as we come in, explaining what is about to happen, and leaving belongings where they were. For residents living with dementia we keep routines familiar and spend real time learning a person's earlier life, because that knowledge is usually what allows us to settle someone who is anxious. We also offer respite stays for shorter periods, which families often use to cover a break from caring. Relatives are welcome here throughout the day.
