About The Paddock
The Paddock is a residential care home on Romney Marsh in Kent. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with a learning disability or autism, people with physical disabilities and people whose sight or hearing is impaired. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Supporting people of quite different ages and needs in one home takes planning, and we do it individually rather than expecting everybody to fit one pattern. What an adult in their thirties wants from a week is not what somebody in their eighties wants, and both should be possible here. People have their own rooms and their own belongings and a genuine say in how their day goes. Our staff help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and moving about in a way that leaves people their privacy, and where somebody wants to cook, shop, travel or keep up a job or a course, our job is to support that rather than do it for them. We take time to learn how each person communicates, particularly where somebody does not use speech or where sight or hearing makes the usual channels harder, and we write down what we learn so that everyone works the same way. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and see the house, meet the team and talk to the people who already live here.
