About White Cliffs Lodge
White Cliffs Lodge is a residential home in Dover, Kent. We support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, and adults living with a mental health condition, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. This is somewhere people live rather than somewhere people are placed, and that distinction drives most of what we do. The people here have their own rooms and their own belongings and a real say in how a week looks. Support plans are agreed with the person and written in language the person can read. Staff are matched to people with some thought, not allocated to whoever is on shift. In practice support means doing things with people rather than to them or for them. Cooking, budgeting, travel, appointments, keeping in touch with family, and handling organisations that are not built for people who think differently. Where somebody needs a great deal of structure and predictability in order to feel settled, we hold that routine consistently and without treating it as an inconvenience. Risk comes up often. We start from how something might be made to work rather than from a flat refusal, because a life with all the risk taken out of it is not much of a life. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and meet the people who live here.
