About Us

Valley House in the Vineyard near Canterbury is a residential care home for adults living with learning disabilities and autism.

It is a house, and we try to run it like one. The people who live here have a genuine say in the ordinary things, from what gets cooked to how the shared rooms are arranged and who comes to visit. Staff know everybody properly rather than knowing a file about them, and the week is shaped around individuals rather than a rota.

We support people to do as much for themselves as they want and are able to, whether that means cooking, shopping, handling money, getting into Canterbury independently, or keeping up with college, work and friendships. Where somebody needs a great deal of help, we give it without making them feel diminished for needing it. Communication is planned around each person, since being properly understood is the foundation everything else rests on, and we take change at a pace people can manage.

Respite stays are available for short periods of support or to give a family carer a planned break.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and visitors are welcome.
