About Sandbanks Resource Centre
Sandbanks Resource Centre is a residential care home in Feltham, in the London borough of Hounslow. We support older people and younger adults who need help with daily life, including people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. The care we provide is residential rather than nursing. Staff are on duty day and night to help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and the practical running of the day, while local doctors and district nurses look after clinical needs. For most people that is the right level of support, and it leaves much more of their independence intact. Supporting a mixed group takes some planning. An older resident living with dementia and a younger adult with a physical disability are not looking for the same week, and we build around that rather than offering everybody an identical routine. For people living with dementia we keep the day in a familiar order, keep the staff group as consistent as we can manage and take time to learn about a person's earlier life, because that is what makes sense of things when words start to slip away. Respite and short stays are available, whether for a planned break for a family carer or for somebody recovering after illness. If you would like to see Sandbanks for yourself, please ring us and we will arrange a visit.
